Chapter Four - Love is in the air before chaos strikes
Lucy and I decided to go for a walk together after dinner. We held hands as we walked together. My dad told me that I had to be back by eight, otherwise I would be in serious trouble. Even if we get held up by something, I'll still be in serious trouble. I feel the cool breeze against my skin, Lucy is huddling up close to me.
I think she may be cold, so I give her my jacket. She doesn't let me put it on her at first but then she can't resist. Since I live so close to the beach we decide that we might as well walk along the jetty before we decide to head back home. It is really cold on the jetty, according to Lucy, but the breeze doesn't affect me. In fact I feel rather hot. Lucy feels my forehead.
"I think you've got a temperature." Lucy tells me
"I'm perfectly fine." I say.
"Come on, let's head back. It's almost eight anyway." Lucy says to me.
Lucy grabs my hand and sways it while we walk. I swear she is purposely trying to annoy me, but I let it slide, I think she just wants to be cute and romantic. Just before we get home Lucy asks me if I am researching Alastor for family purposes. I want to know how she found out, but I just reply to her question with a simple yes.
Lucy smiles at me just before she goes inside. I'm a little confused, but I'm confused about a lot of things and I most definately don't need to be confused about this.
My dad is in the kitchen washing up the dishes from dinner. He is singing along to the radio, he sees both Lucy and I walk in. He smiles at me and then gets back to washing the dishes. I swear that man is not my dad. He has just changed so much.
Lucy and I sneak up to my bedroom and we lock the door behind us. I get the shoebox and I show Lucy what my father told me about Alastor and Emerald.
I'm more interested in Emerald than Alastor at the moment, she was rather close to my uncle. Alastor is dead, but I know for a fact that Emerald is still alive and she has her own son called Arthur.
Lucy looks at everything, and she points out things that I didn't even notice. Especially the picture of Alastor and Emerald down at the beach together. They are both standing in front of the jetty that Lucy and I walked down tonight.
I wonder if they had something going on, there is the possibility that Emerald cheated on my uncle all because of Alastor. Some many questions that I need answers to. Lucy is smiling like an idiot right now and I don't know why.
"What's with that look?" I ask.
"My dad is in one of these pictures with my mum. Looks like our parents were part of some secret organisation. My dad really needed to have a haircut, he looks like a complete idiot." Lucy tells me.
I grab the photo off of Lucy. I see my parents standing next to Alastor and Emerald. Then Lucy's parents standing next to my mum and dad. There are a few other couples, but this is when I notice a man standing at the back all alone.
He has no one. He looks very self-concious. I think he is my uncle, but I'm not really sure because he doesn't look like he is related to me, he has blonde hair, not brown and blue eyes, not green.
My family doesn't even look like me! It's the same with my parents, I don't look like I belong, although they say that I do.
"Do you want to meet Emerald?" Lucy asks.
"Yeah... I would, I just wish I knew where she lived." I say.
"I think I can help with that." Lucy says with a sly smile.
