In learning a new language, you'll almost want to learn the greeting first before starting the basic lesson.
1. GREETING
Below are the greetings in Korea (just correct me if I'm wrong). Hangeul and romanized versions are provided.
For beginners, they might not know the basic Korean greeting so I'm going to preview some in this chapter.
*Saying hello
CASUAL: 안녕 (Annyeong)
-when saying hello to a friend or to someone younger than you. Never use this to someone older than you.FORMAL: 안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo)
-saying hello to someone older than you or you use this when it's your first time meeting someoneHONORIFIC: 안녕하십니까 (Annyeonghasimnikka)
-saying hello to a much higher person than you like your boss at work2. INTRODUCING YOURSELF
안녕하세요? Annyeonghaseyo? This means How are you?
마나서 반갑슴니다. Ma na seo ba ngap seum ni da. It's nice to meet you.
처음 뵙게슴니다. Choe eum boep get seum ni da. I'm pleased to meet you.
And then introduce yourself
•저는 ___________ 입니다. Jeoneun (your name) imnida. (I) am __________.•저는 ___________라고 함니다. Jeoneun (name)rago hamnida. (I) am called '___________'.
3. INTRODUCING OTHERS
When introducing others, you can use:•(이분은) 박선생님이세요. I bu neun Pak seon saeng nim iseyo. This is Mr. Pak. Honorific.
•(이쪽은) 제니퍼 이예요. I tcho neun Jennifer i ye yo. This is Jennifer. Polite.
•제 친구 폴입니다. Che chinggu Paul im ni da. This is my friend, Paul. Formal.
•폴이야. Paul i ya. This is Paul. Casual.
