"Are you satisfied to have some food now, Beauty?" The voice of my mate draws my attention.

"Um, yes," I answer, a bit uncomfortable with the person staring at me from across the table.

"Who is the Alpha around here, mate? I would like to talk to him about the arrangement with taking you to my pack."

My jaw ticks. So this Alpha here just has to assume that the Alpha is male. Prick.

"You're staring right at her." My reply is sharp, snappy.

This seems to catch my mate a bit off guard.

"You're the Alpha," he states, questioningly, bit surprised.

"No," I start sarcastically," The plate with all the food sitting on it is."

"Well, I was misinformed then. I was told that Alpha Haden was Alpha of this territory." He seems surprised enough for me to believe him, but I roll my eyes at the information he was given.

"Is that what that prick is saying?! Wow...he's gotten cocky in the last few months. Haden was never Alpha over us. He just seems to think that since I'm female and since our territories are close together, that he can just say that, and our packs will eventually merge. Idiot."

Haden is the alpha of the neighboring territory and is extremely overconfident. Ever since my pack moved to this 300 acres of neutral territory, about 14 years ago, he has thought that he can just talk about being alpha over my pack, and it will happen.

It won't happen though. My people are just to different, and we end up moving the lack every 20-some years, because our instincts tell us.

In the past 6 months I've been to Haden's territory 4 times to tell him off about what's he's been saying about our pack. I haven't been over there in about a month, and it looks like I may need to go back over, and scare some sense into him.

"You've got a fierce look in your eyes, mate. I'm already loving that you have some fire in you. Tell me, Beauty, what's your name? I want to know the name of the beauty who I'll be taking home with me," the Alpha across from me says, a slight smirk on his face.

"Valerie. And who says I'll be coming home with you? I have a pack to look after, and an Alphas ass to beat."

"The mate bond, my beauty, that's who."

"Since I told you my name, why don't you tell me yours?"

"My name, my dear Valerie? You haven't figured it out? When you arrived outside this morning I thought you recognized the pack. Shouldn't you recognize the Alpha too?"

His words cause my eyes to widen. He answered me, just as my mind is catching up with the events and whispering in a horrified voice, who this man calmly eating breakfast before me is.

"My name, Beauty, is Caden. Caden Crypt of the Crater pack."
