I had ants in my pants today from the morning. After last night's conversation with Ellie, I had this stupid grin pasted on my face. No matter how much I try to act normal, I had this cheeriness in my voice.

"So are you going to talk to her at school?" Harry questioned as I inserted  the key in ignition and engine roared to life. He slid on the passenger seat, shutting the door of my truck.

"I don't know, maybe?" I grinned.

He patted my shoulders and then we both continued chatting about new games, songs and tv shows we currently were watching.

Ten minutes later, we both reached school. I parked my truck and jumped off it, following Harry. As we both were walking towards the school, I saw Ellie strolling side by side with Jake, her boyfriend. Her hands were around his neck and Jake's hands were around her waist. A sharp pain rose in my chest as I continued staring at them. Jake talking about something and Ellie laughing in response.

Get a grip, this is not new.

Feeling eyes on her, she looked in my direction. Smiling, I waved at her. I waited for her to wave back or atleast smile, but, she acted like she never saw me. That I was invisible, again.

As I and Ellie had Literature's class together, I was desperately waiting for it. The minute the bell's shrilling sound echoed through the halls, I hopped off my seat and exited Geography class.

Taking few turns, I reached my destination. Sighing heavily, I walked towards Ellie's seat. I had always been the shy guy, not confronting my feelings. In men's words, I had no balls. For three years, I used to sit in the back of the class, and just gaze at her or at lunch I'd sit three tables across and read her every movement. So I'm really astounded at my own behaviour, I never thought that I'll live to see this day where I'll actually make an effort to talk to her.

"Hi!" I started the conversation as I reached her table and took a seat beside her.

"Hey," She replied, continuing writing something on her notebook.

"What are you doing?" I asked, curiosity getting best of me. I tried to peek though but her hands covered whatever she was writing.

"I'm drawing something, it'll just take a minute or two. I'll show you this after the class." She informed as she got lost in whatever she was doing.

I couldn't help but stare at the beauty infront of me. Her dark, shiny hair falling on her face as after every minute she struggled to pull it back. Her lips formed in a pout as she judged whatever was lying infront of her. Her thick, black eyebrows kissing each other forming a V. Beautiful.

"Stop staring at me. I'm trying to focus here." She looked at my direction and raised her eyebrows.

In return, I sheepishly smiled. A minute later, Mrs. Baker entered the class, informing us about the new book we are going to start.

Forty minutes lecture never seemed so interesting but today because of the fact that my crush was sitting right beside me who seemed so intrigued by this new book. As soon as bell roared, I turned towards Ellie's direction, desperately waiting for her to show me her piece of drawing. One more thing I knew about her is that, she's a really good writer and artist.

"Waiting uh?" She smirked, turning her attention towards me.

I raised my one eyebrow at her, giving an expression which said 'no shit'.

"Okay, so this is not something special like not for you or any other person but for me. I keep getting memories of this thing and I just thought to draw it on the page just to keep my memory safe." She explained, holding the white page to her chest.

I just grinned in response because I couldn't utter a word due to the butterflies in my stomach because of the fact that she think of me special enough to share this with me.

As soon as she turned the page, I rooted to the spot. My jaw dropped and air was caught in my throat. I tried really hard to breath, but, I was so lost. Breathe in, breathe out.

After minutes of standing here with my mouth open, I finally released the air trapped inside me. I knew her drawing was amazing, that was not a surprise but what she drew hit me really hard.

She remembered?

"I spent my childhood here, under this tree. There was a pink swing beside it. I used to spend eight hours here with my friend. I don't know, there was something so interesting about this place like you don't get to see blue trees everywhere. And I don't know why am I rambling about such a stupid thing, out of all the people to you, and oh my God, we should go." She babbled.

I know. Friend.

However, hiding the pain in my tone, I chuckled. I placed my hands on her shoulder, calming her down and whispered,"Hey, it's fine. And that drawing is breathtakingly beautiful."

I loved hearing the stories of her life when I was a part of it.

"Can't you move your fat ass just a little?" Harry growled at me, kicking  me with his left leg.

"What is up with everyone calling me fat ass?" I glared at him, pushing his leg away.

"Can you stop staring at your laptop screen, your eyes will bulge out now." Harry hissed. Currently we both were lying on my bed, Harry completing his homework and on the other side, I, waiting for certain brunette's message. It's been a week since we started talking, most of the time we talk on messages, not like I have any problem with that. From the day she told me about her childhood, we started to talk more often. We chatted a lot on facebook from this time, 4 pm till midnight and that's the reason I'm waiting for her to come online.

Replaying all memories in my brain, I heard a loud sound from my laptop, indicating I have received a message. In a matter of seconds I opened the chat and read her message.

Ellie: hi nobody.

Nobody is a thing now, apparently.

Francisco: hey queen bee

"Even though you people aren't even together I feel like a third wheel." I heard Harry say.

"Yeah but a fat one." I replied, sarcastically as he kicked me again.

Ellie: sorryy, i am late. had a party at jake's

A deep pain rose in my heart after hearing his name.

"Blushing already eh?" Harry winked at me.

"Yeah I'm blushing because she was with Jake." I rose my eyebrows at him to which he formed an 'O'.

Francisco: Oh, nevermind. Did you watch the latest episode of The Handmaid's Tale? I bet two or three tears rolled down your cheeks.

Ellie: I didn't. Don't spoil it for me. I gotta go, Jake's waiting, we have to go somewhere.

In a minute, she was offline. At that moment, dark clouds loomed over me. Am I her backup only?
