This is just a teaser for a new short multi-chapter story I'm working on >w> might have the first chapter uploaded by the end of the week

~Wolfgaurd ~~~~~~~~

In my pack there's this motto all of us warriors live and thrive by: 'A true hunter will never fall victim to its prey.'

I'm one of the best hunters the pack has, and we have many. I always make sure that I will never slip up, my concentration when hunting in strengthened. I could discern sounds farther away than any other wolf can and hit a mark from over a few miles. Hell, I can stand atop a mountain peak and shoot a deer all the way down in the other side of the forest. Not to be cocky though. My skills are lacking in hand to hand combat, however, since I'm primarily an archer. Although my own strength rivals and possibly even exceeds the alpha's, my friend Lionel.

The alpha gene has been passed down through his family for generations and hasn't showed any signs of slowing down either. Typically, the beta of a pack will be someone related, like a sibling or something. Very rarely does an outsider of the family ever transcend the unspoken laws. However, I became one of the few who actually  dared to break the law and challenge his older cousin, Darius, for the position. Being the only female to accomplish this, I tend to have a little more pride than should be safe, but I don't care, I have the right to be.

I started out on the very bottom, I was one of the omegas, disgraced and looked down upon. Yet despite this, Lionel still befriended me and helped me past the discrimination and become greater than the others. His kindness came with a price, though, because during our teen years, I noticed his affections for me growing into something I couldn't handle. He hides it from me, but I still know it's there.

A sweet, delicious scent caught my attention from high on the cliffs so my eyes scanned the open land in front of me. There in the distance a shining caught my eye. Closing my eyes and taking in the world around me with my spirit, I managed to catch hold of the scent's tail and follow it back to the being who it belongs. Plenty of other tempting smells tease me to follow, but this one already has me hook, line and sinker.
