Hukki Week

Day 1: Change

Note: They didn't specify what type of change so I had fun with today's theme.

Everyone in town was standing in front of the Varrick Industries building, where Varrick was showing everyone his new invention. According to him, it would revolutionize our world. More than the Spirit Vine energy did a decade ago.

Among the small growing crowd stood Huan and Ikki holding hands. Now that they finally had her father's approval, they were free to date in public without worrying of getting caught. Tenzin's concern was the huge age difference between them of fourteen years. It only took Pema, her mother, to remind him that she was 16 years younger than he was. With a huff and a puff, Tenzin gave them their blessing and left the room still unhappy. Although, he was beginning to warm up to the new couple.

"Decades ago Hiroshi Sato brought the Satomobile to the streets of Republic City, changing the way we move from place to place! What if we could do that without a Satomobile? What if in seconds we could materialize from one place to another?"

"You mean walking?" A reporter with a feathered hat asked raising his hand.

"WRONG!" Varrick answered pointing a finger at the man. "Zhu Li, do the thing!" A woman with glasses and a ponytail uncovered two big machines that stood several feet away from each other. "I call this machine the Zhu-Li-Nator, after my beautiful wife and assistant, Zhu Li," Varrick announced to the public with a nod towards his wife. She smiled and moved stood behind him on the podium.

"With this machine we can materialize from one place to another! Zhu Li?"

Zhu Li opened one of the machine and put an ashbanana inside it. Varrick then went to a controller with a screen, pushed some buttons before the machines started buzzing. A minute later Zhu Li opened the same machine where the ashbanana was, but there was no ashbanana at all. She then went to the other machine, opened it, and the ashbanana was there. The crowd gasped in awe at this new piece of technology.

With a wide grin from ear to ear, Varrick stood in the middle of the stage and asked for volunteers. When he saw everyone's worried expression, he immediately grabbed Huan and Ikki and before they could protest, pushed them inside the first machine. The machines started buzzing like the last time but instead ended with a loud crackling popping sound. When the doors were opened, the couple was in the second machine, but something was different.

"Did it work?" Ikki asked. Varrick's face expressed pure horror. "What's wrong? Did it make me taller?" Varrick and Zhu Li looked at one another and back at the couple.

"Oh no," Zhu Li murmured.

"That is all folks!" Varrick said to crowd as Zhu Li rushed the couple backstage.

"Do not freak out," she said to them. "But I think you guys switched bodies."

"That's ridiculous," Huan said heading for the nearest mirror. When he reached it, he gave a loud screeching scream. Ikki rushed over and gave another loud piercing scream.

"What are we gonna do?" Ikki asked. "I have an Air Nation reunion tonight! I can't show up as Huan!"

"What about me? I have a reputation for my individuality, she'll completely ruin it!"

"No I wouldn't!" Ikki said offended by his remark. "Your individuality won't be ruined just because I'm in your body for a little while. You on the other hand don't understand Air Nomad culture, you couldn't do what I do."

"Air Nomad culture," he scoffed. "That's easy stuff. Don't eat meat. Tell a bison yip-yip. Achieve world peace."

"Is that what you think of me?" She asked.
