With makeup, you cover your blemishes.
The faults that aren't there.
Making yourself feel good while you skip meal after meal.
Trying to fit in with the "cool kids"
Casting out your self worth and confidence.
You hurt yourself at night.
Telling yourself no one will notice.
That you'll be alright.
Makeup hides the scars.
The bags under your eyes.
More sleepless nights.
More cuts covering your legs and wrists.
No one notices the pain under your makeup.
No one notices your sunken eyes from the meals you didn't eat.
Those who do see. Don't care enough to ask.
Those who care enough to ask don't see.
It's a circle of pain.
And in the end no one wins.
You wear makeup.
They don't notice.
This cycle continues until you slowly wither away, and leave them sadly wondering why.
