Running. She is running.
The old man
Cannot pay for
What he demands.
Usually at her job she feels
Safe and secure.
In this moment, however,
She isn't quite sure.
She calms herself down,
Slows her pace,
Knowing, after all,
This isn't a race.
The man catches up
And she's just standing by
So the man is confused,
But doesn't ask why.
Why did she stop?
Moments ago she'd been scared for her life.
But she came to the realization that
She might not mind if she died.
