Over the next few weeks, I kept going to the Starbucks to see her. The guys were giving me strange looks all the time, since I usually wasn't even conscious in the mornings. I couldn't help it though, there was just something about her. I usually went for the partying type, not the good girl. I was just enthralled by her hair, her eyes, her smile, the way her name sounded when I said it. I couldn't say anything because my reputation would be totally ruined if I revealed that there was a romantic bone in my body. I was falling for her though, hard. The worst part was not knowing if she felt the same way. Eventually though, an opportunity presented itself.
"Hey, we're having a barbecue next Saturday, as a whole start of summer thing", Vic told me. "Anyone in particular you want to invite?"
"I have someone in mind, but you guys probably haven't met her" I said, trying to play it cool.
"Ooh! Little Mikey found a girl! What's her name?" Vic teased.
"Juliet", I said, not being able to keep a stupid grin off my face. Tony and Jaime decided that it was a great time to walk in as I said it.
"What's we miss?" Jaime asked
"Mikey-kins found himself a woman!" Vic said before I could answer. "And he's going to bring her to the party next weekend" he added.
"Well!" Jaime grinned. "Where'd you meet her? And more importantly, what did you do to make her think you were a good idea?"
"Starbucks. And I didn't do anything!" I defended. I wasn't used to the attention, but I knew they'd make a big deal out of it.
"So THAT'S why you've been up for the past few Saturday mornings!" Tony exclaimed, putting it together. "Can't wait to meets the girl who tamed Mike Fuentes."
"Guys, chill! I haven't eve asked her yet. She might not even want to come", I said.
"Either way, we'll meet her, swing as we know where to find her now", Jaime attempted to laugh evilly. For some reason, this really bothered me. Her work was our place.
"Whatever. Im going to get coffee", I mumbled before walking out.
"Go get your Juliet, my little Mexican Romeo!" Vic yelled as I was shutting the door. My response was a raising of my middle finger. Walking to the Starbucks seemed to take longer today. I was nervous, for the first time in a hell of a long time. I could play in front of thousands of people no problem, but actually asking a girl out was terrifying.
"Hey, Hangover Boy!" she greeted. "Be with you in a sec!" I smiled. I was nervous, but the sight of her made me happy. She went off to go do something in the back, and came out a few minutes later. "Hungover again?" she asked.
"Actually, no. I was just wondering if you were free next Saturday at one. And if I could get a cup of coffee", I said.
"My shift ends at twelve, so I'd say I'm free. Why do you ask?" she said, looking adorably curious.
"The guys and I are having a start of summer barbecue, and you have made it on the guest list", I informed her.
"Alright", she grinned. "I'm game. Here", she said, writing her number on my coffee cup before handing it to me. "Text me the details."
"Sure thing. Later, Super Girl! See you Saturday!" I said, and walked out. As soon as I had my back turned, a huge grin spread across my face. She said yes.
