Annabeth was excited to hang out with her family again. The last time they had really had time together was several years ago. Sure, back then she hated most of them, but things were different now. She was more mature now, she understood that her stepmother had been trying to protect her sons from the dangers of being a demigod. Her actions weren't out of hatred for Annabeth, but out of love for her sons.

Speaking of Bobby and Matthew, Annabeth was excited to see them too. How old were they now? 15 or 16, four years younger than herself.

She arrived at the park they were meeting at. As she parked her car, she felt butterflies in her stomach. She had never gotten along with her mom, but now, all was forgiven. Her heart leapt when she saw her father standing there, waiting for her.

"Annabeth!" he said, his dimples deepening when he saw her.

"Dad!" Annabeth called happily.

She ran into his warm embrace.

"I missed you so much." he said, his voice soft.

"I missed you too." Annabeth said.

When they pulled away, her father looked at her smiling for a minute.

"Come on." he said finally. "Everybody is waiting."

They walked up a hill to a picnic table where four figures were standing. Annabeth smiled at Magnus, who was sitting and stuffing a slice of watermelon. His long hair stuck to his wet cheek. He wiped his sticky face with his sleeve and waved to her.

She turned toward her brothers, who were standing behind her. They were so much different from the last time seen had seen them. They were tall and muscular, almost full grown men. One of them, Annabeth knew it was Matthew because of the way he had styled his hair, had a very crooked nose. He had probably broken it while he was messing around with Bobby.

"Hey guys!" she said, hugging them rather awkwardly.

They hugged her back. It was all a little awkward, since they hadn't ever had a close relationship, but they were still her family.

Finally she turned to her mother, who was now shorter than her. She looked Annabeth up and down, inspecting her. Her dark brown eyes met Annabeth's gray ones and she smiled.

"Hello, Annabeth." she greeted.

"Hi... Mom."

The word seemed to catch her off guard, and she hesitated before hugging Annabeth. Annabeth felt a warm, happy tear roll down her cheek.

When they pulled away, Annabeth saw someone staring at them from behind her mother's back. The woman had long, curly dark hair. Her eyes were narrowed and her lips were curled into a scowl. She looked like- no. Annabeth shook the thought out of her head. No way it was her.

Annabeth looked at her family, smiling.

"Are you guys going to eat?" Magnus called from the table.

Annabeth laughed. "If you saved any food for us."

They sat down and feasted on watermelon, sandwiches, and cookies. Once the food was gone, they decided to walk around through the park. On Annabeth's right shoulder was Magnus, on her left, Bobby and Matthew. They were talking about their demigod lives. Bobby and Matt seemed utterly impressed, but Magnus and Annabeth tried to explain that it wasn't an ideal life.

"There's a high chance of death like, every day." explained Magnus.

"And the gods are annoying." added Annabeth.

"Even your parents?" asked Bobby.

"Especially our parents." Annabeth and Magnus said in unison.
