"I guess I'll take you to the dragon stables first, so you can get your dragons settled in," Cerise said, careful not to make eye contact with Hiccup.
"Where is it?" Heather asked.
"It's just down that hill," Cerise pointed to the barely visible barn.
"You can ride with me then! Heather exclaimed.
"Wait, what?" Cerise could feel herself start to panic. She really didn't like riding on dragons.
"Yeah, come on!" Heather moved over to Windshere and motioned for Cerise to join her. Cerise had slowly started toward her, when swan Duchess landed in front of her. When she turned into her human self, Cerise saw the smirk she wore on her face.
"Ha! I knew you were waiting for your date! So, which one of these guys is your boyfriend? Is it Mister Hottie, here?" Duchess then leaned against Hiccup, a little too close for comfort. Hiccup brushed her off.
Cerise rolled her eyes at Duchess' flirtatious behavior.
"None of them are my boyfriend. Because I don't have one. And besides, these guys are all new students here, and this is the first time I've met any of them!"
Duchess' face turned into a scowl. She stomped her foot like a toddler, turned back into her swan form, an flew off, honking angrily.
"What was that about?" Astrid asked from atop Stormfly.
"That's Duchess Swan, daughter of the Swan Princess. She has a rotten destiny, so she treats everyone like crap to make herself feel better," Cerise explained, as Heather helped her onto Windshere.
"Hold on to me so you don't fall off," Heather instructed. Cerise held onto Heather with one arm and used the other to keep her hood in place. Heather guided Windshere up into the air and Cerise squeezed her eyes shut. Heather turned around in her seat and saw Cerise's eyes tightly shut.
"Are you afraid of heights?" Heather asked and let out a small laugh of amusement.
"No, I'm more afraid of just riding on dragons in general," Cerise answered. Heather looked at Cerise with a confused expression twisting her features. The green eyes she shared with her brother held concern in them.
"Really? I love riding dragons! It's my favorite pastime!"
When they finally arrived at the dragon stables, Cerise gladly slid off the metallic dragon's back. She walked toward the stables and pulled open the big, heavy door. Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Snotlout, and Heather led their dragons into the musky smelling stables.
"Those stalls are all vacant," Cerise said as she pointed to six open stalls. The teens led their dragons each into a different stall. They provided food, water, and bedding for the giant beasts, then followed Cerise back out and up the paved path to the school. Heather and Astrid ran to catch up to Cerise. Heather was on Cerise's left side, Astrid, on her right.
"So what's next on the tour?" Astrid asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Umm, I guess I could show you the athletics fields next."
Cerise headed towards the fields. After that, she led them to the school itself. Cerise showed them all around the school, from the boys' dorms to the girls' dorms, the classrooms, and finally, Headmaster Grimm's office.
"I'll let you all go in and get enrolled. I guess I'll see ya later," Cerise said as she walked off. She smirked as she imagined Grimm's reaction to their strange names. Cerise decided to try and find Raven and tell her about the Viking teens.
She found Raven talking to Apple and Darling about graduation. This was their senior year, and graduation was rapidly approaching. Cerise couldn't believe how fast the time had flown by.
"Has Dexter asked you to prom?" Apple was asking Raven as Cerise walked up.
"Hey Cerise!" said Darling as she hugged her friend. Everyone greeted her, then Raven answered Apple.
"Yeah, he did. I said yes. Has Humphrey asked you?" Apple and Humphrey had been dating around two and a half years now, and it seemed to Cerise it was more like courting. It seemed to be pretty serious and Cerise wouldn't be too surprised if Humphrey proposed to her at the prom. Apple nodded yes to Raven's question.
"Darling, has Chase asked you to go to the prom with him?" Raven asked. Darling gave a shy smile and nodded. Apple turned to Cerise.
"How about you Cerise? Has anyone asked you to go to prom?" she asked. Cerise laughed.
"Yeah right! Like I'd get a date to prom!"
"Cerise, you could easily get a date for prom! You're smart and pretty, you could date any guy you wanted!" Apple exclaimed, as she lifted a piece of Cerise's freshly cut and layered dark brown tresses. Her bangs had grown out to be very attractive side bangs, and Apple had noticed more than once, guys looking at Cerise. Cerise smiled a small smile at the princess.
"Thanks Apple, but you know I'm not really into guys." Apple sighed. Cerise lightly punched the girl's arm. Apple laughed and punched Cerise back. Apple had changed so much since the whole Evil Queen catastrophe. She had become one of Cerise's best friends over the past two years.
"What've you been up to today Cerise?" asked Darling.
"Just showing the new dragon-riding Viking teens around," Cerise said, and shrugged her shoulders.
"New kids?" all three girls asked the question at the same time. Cerise nodded.
"Girls, we need to go meet them! Cerise, would you mind introducing us to each other?" Apple asked.
"Sure," Cerise said and led them to Headmaster Grimm's office, just as the dragon riders came out.
"Oh, hey Cerise!" exclaimed Astrid, and walked over to her, dragging Heather along with. The rest of the Vikings made their way over too.
"Who are your friends?" Heather asked. Cerise introduced everyone to each other. After they started mingling with each other, more students came up and introduced themselves.
Cerise was jostled around by all the students crowding the hallway, so she backed up against the wall. He always got anxious in big crowds like this. Cerise closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down. She sensed someone come over to her, and her eyes flew open to see who it was. She expected to see Raven or Darling. But she was in for a surprise to discover it was Hiccup Haddock! Cerise felt her cheeks start to turn the color of her name.
"Hey. Does this wall carry on better conversations than all those students?" Hiccup asked as he smiled at her and tapped said wall. Cerise laughed.
"No, I just get anxious in crowds," she explained.
"Why's that?" he asked. Cerise just shrugged.
"I've never been the hextremely social type, like Apple or Raven," she gave him a small smile.
"Oh, well, do you want me to leave?" His smile disappeared from his face.
"No, no, you're ok. It's actually kinda nice talking to you," Cerise replied. Hiccup smiled that awkward, adorable smile again. It made Cerise's heart squeeze.
"HICCUP!" Astrid yelled from across the hall. "We're all gonna go find our dorms! C'mon!" she took off with the rest of her friends.
"I guess I'll see you later Cerise. It was nice talking with you." Cerise watched as Hiccup turned to leave. She caught a glimpse of his face before he left. It was filled with something, reluctance maybe? Was he reluctant to leave her? Cerise shook her head. No, that was impossible. They'd just met. Cerise turned and started back to her dorm.
AN: I updated! I haven't updated in FOREVER! Hope y'all like this story! I'm in love with it! It's my favorite thing! I just think Cerise and Hiccup are perfect for each other! I think they're more alike than Hiccup and Astrid! Also, this story takes place in the Race to the Edge timeline, so the Vikings are eighteen. Enjoy the story!
