"Woah! Sam! Look at these cookies! They have icing, in the middle of them! Let's get these!"

"You are very passionate about food aren't you?"

"Yes! Now onto the next isle."

We had been in the store for 15 minutes, and our cart was already full. It held a few dozen Ben and Jerry's ice cream, some oreos, easy cheese, ritz, popcorn, TONS of chocolate, and those little icing cookies Niall wanted. I swear, that boy's stomach is an endless pit.

"Sir? We close in 5 minutes. We need you to check out. Now."

"Niall. Let's go pay."

"Wait! Let's get rootbeer!"

He grabbed two six packs of rootbeer and headed to check out. I started to grab my money to help play for the goodies, but Niall forced my money back into my hand when I tried handing it over.

"My treat. You've had a rough night."

"No, it a ridiculous amount of food. I can't let you buy all of it."

"Fine. Do you have a 25 cents? That is all I will let you pay."

"Fine. Here."

The cashier at the register behind ours was watching with a look of admiration on her face. Either she thought our cashier was attractive, or that Niall was attractive. I was totally wrong, as always.

"Oh em gee! I can't stay quiet anymore! You two have to be the CUTEST couple like, EVER! How long have you been dating?"

"Dating?" I blushed.

"We aren't dating. She lives with me. Her parents, uh, aren't here anymore."

The girl's face dropped when Niall said those words.

"OH! Im so sorry! I'm so awkard. I should have stayed quiet."

I decided to speak up, "It's ok. You shouldn't hold your thoughts inside you. Speak woman!"

"You're funny. What's your name?"

"Samantha. Call me Sam."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Tinsley."

"That a pretty name. But, hey I have to go now. It was nice meeting you."

"Bye!"

We waved at each other and then Niall and I walked out to the car.

"She was nice."

"She was. Now, let's hurry before all these frozens melt."

The ride on the way back was quiet. The radio and the rain were drowning out our thoughts. I got to thinking more about Niall. He must have sisters, because he know exaclty how to treat a girl and what to do for her. I would love to have him as a big brother. I always wanted siblings. But I never got them, an will never. I glance over at Niall, he looked happy. He always looks happy. I looked at his hands on the steering wheel and saw scars on his wrists.

"Niall. You're wrists."

His face dropped. "I didn't want you to see those."

"Please tell me those aren't new."

"About 2 months. I've stopped though."

"Those scare me. I just got to know you, and you seem so happy all the time."

"Well, I got bullied at school and I had nobody to talk to. My older brother was never home, my parents never listened when I said I wasn't happy. They just wanted the best education for me. I never had a serious girlfriend. But the ones I did have never found out about the, uh, scars."
