Kate felt heartbroken, it hadn't even been a month and he was already off with another woman. But why did she care, it wasn't like they were together to begin with.

She darted out the store rushing past so fast that she forgot she had left her sister behind. She didn't know where she was heading to, but all she really cared about know was trying to get the image of Jamie and his girlfriend out of her head.

Before she knew it she was in the airport bathroom and locking herself in a cubicle. She was hyperventilating, her breaths were stuck in her throat.

Was this the trip they were supposed to go to together? Was she just a backup for his girlfriend?

It was a good thing I rejected him since he already has a girlfriend, it would've been more painful if I actually caught feelings for him.

But she did already catch feelings for him and it was painful. She tried to reason with herself, and after 20 minutes, her breathing calmed. She wiped her tears and tidied her appearance a little.

As she was stepping out of the bathroom she looked around hoping to not see any sights of Jamie or his girlfriend. All Kate wanted now was to be able to sneak out of the airport and go home.

She took a step out when she believed it was safe and there leaning on the wall to the right of the bathroom was Jamie. He was fidgeting with his hands, shuffling on his feet and hung his head low. The confidence and radiance that he had, that made Kate think he was unreachable, was gone. In a just moment - she felt that they were equal.

She began to walk away, turning her head and preparing to go the opposite direction, when someone grabbed her wrist.

"Wait," she didn't want to face him, she knew that she would burst into tears again. "Kate, please listen to me, please." His voice was wavering and begging.

She took a deep breath and turned to face him, "What do you want Jamie?" she sighed. She really didn't want to see him, but at the same time she felt drawn to him.

"Kate, listen, I know how this may look but you've got to believe me when I say that that I would never cheat on you." He explained, "I don't know how I would even cheat on you if we were never together to begin with, but listen, she isn't my girlfriend."

Kate really wanted to believe Jamie, with all her heart. But after what happened to her with Nathan she really didn't know anymore.

"Listen Jamie, I don't know. Look, I really want to believe you, but after what happened with Nathan-"

Jamie couldn't believe what he was hearing, "Nathan? You're really thinking about him right now?!"

"No, no...it's just. I feel so insecure, I just can't trust myself." Kate sighed wiping her tears away and sitting down

"You want proof?!" He half shouted hysterically, "I'll give you proof." He then ran towards Beth who was sitting in the waiting area typing away on her phone.

"What's taking so long, we missed our flight and I am not paying for a missed flight." She ranted to Jamie.

"I'm really sorry okay but there's something I need you to do." Jamie sat down next to Beth and pointed towards where Kate was sat. "You see where that girl is, the one sitting down."

"Yes, I see her. Is that the one you've been talking non-stop about?" Beth teased, smiling like Cheshire cat.

"Besides the point." Jamie said dismissively, "She thinks that you're my girlfriend." Jamie explained. For a while Beth was silent, then out of nowhere she burst in laughter, she laughed so hard that tears started to go down her cheeks.

"Please tell me you're joking." Beth said, finally getting her breath under control and glanced at Jamie. He looked pissed. "You want me to go and tell her that I'm not your girlfriend?" She asked, she already knew the answer but she wanted to make sure that all this was real.

Ever since that she had known Jamie he had never been one to settle down, always leaving a girl a couple of weeks after they hooked up. She was honestly surprised that this girl had managed to change him, not for the worse, but for the better.  She wiped her tears of laughter away from her eyes and stood up from her seat and walked over to the mystery girl.

"You must be Kate, right?" She asked as she approached her.

"Yeah, a pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry for-" Kate began but quickly got interrupted by Beth.

"There's no need to apologises." Beth smiled warmly, "I can't believe that you think that I'm Jamie's girlfriend."

"You're not?"

"Ew, that's an insult," Just then Jamie appeared beside Kate and sat next to her. "Jamie and I have been friends since, well-" She felt Jamie nudge her slightly, signalling to not tell Kate the embarrassing story of how they met, "Anyways, I have my own boyfriend."

"Is that okay?" Jamie asked Kate, hoping that it was enough.

Kate just nodded, her face numb with shock and a big grin about to surface on her face, she was ecstatic but also beyond nervous. She really liked Jamie, a lot. But on the back of her mind was always the question of what would become of them. Would they continue being friends or would their friendship bloom into something else or wither away and die?
