Alec's POV
Whizz. Another arrow hits the target, perfectly in the center. Sweat drips down my forehead as I notch another to my bow, ready to fire again. And again. And again. However many times it takes to get the thought of Magnus' repeated nightmares out of my brain. For the past two weeks he had had them, walking up in the dead of night In a cold sweat after spending hours of thrashing and crying out In agony. "Please!" he would cry and whimper, "Why are you doing this? Why?". Usually, Magnus was a master of his emotions, seemingly keeping a wall up between him and the world. Over time though, the walls tension had released slightly, and there were cracks where I could see how he really felt. Gradually, he had opened himself up, telling me everything about how he felt, except when he was scared or in pain. He would close those feelings off, try to push them away, conceal them if you will. His warlock was basically a modern day Elsa, except with blue fire instead of ice. Suddenly the training room door is kicked open and Izzy walks In, a peculiar look on her face. "Mom Is calling everyone to the library for a meeting." I furrow my eyebrows and sigh. Really mom? "Tell her I'm busy." I grunt. "She said It was an emergency. and she needs Magnus." That gets my attention.

Magnus' POV
I just finish an appointment with a client when my phone rings. I see the number and answer immediately. "Hello darling!" I purr into the phone. "Hi" he replies curtly, and I can tell he's anxious about one thing or another. "My mom just called an emergency meeting back in New York."he says. I scoff and sit back on the couch, "She's probably just doing that to see Max again". The line goes quiet for a minute, and then he replies at last "That's what I thought at first, but she called Izzy,Jace and Clary to. I don't think she would have done that if that alone is her motive. She also knows that were here on Clave orders, and she wouldn't brake the law for nothing" I sigh, " I guess I'll make a portal." "Thank you" I hear Alec murmur into the phone, followed by a quick "I love you" and then he hangs up .I quickly gather up some supplies for my trip, a few potions and spells , Max's diaper bag and lastly some gifts I had bought for the Chairman over my time here. Scooping up Max from his crib and balancing him on my hip, I begin to make the portal. My experienced hands make quick work of It, drawing the runes of the downworld with ease and precision. Max giggles softly as the runes weave together, and the bright purple light of the portal starts coming together. I bury my face in his blue curls and keep it there for a long time. "Pretty soon, you'll be an expert at making portals. Just like your Papa!" He giggles again as we step through the portal, back to Brooklyn, my home.
