Legacy Of A Flower: Chapter Twenty Six

Lily's POV

I barely dodged a gigantic snake as I hopped onto the branch of a tree. "What in the hell..." I mummered, confused as in what is going on. I'm gone for thirty minutes and all hell brakes lose.

That's when realization dawned on me. This must be Orochimaru's doing. Who else would summon oversized snakes to bring chaos over the village?

Ever since the whole ordeal in the Forest of Death, the connection between snakes and Orochimaru has been forever etched into my brain.

Hopefully Basil is fine. I know I can trust in him not to do anything rash, seeing as he's the complete opposite of me. But, considering how he is revamping his perspective on life he must be helping out as much as he can. One thing is for sure: if my brother gets severely hurt Orochimaru better hope over hopr that his snakes have his back every second of the day.

"Summoning Jutsu!" I shouted, my hand colliding with a branch. My special little hawk, Ryo, appeared in a puff of smoke. He flew by my side as I jumped from branch to branch.

"Lily? What's going on?" He questioned.

"I'll explain later." I answered. "But I need you to fly up ahead, and tell me if you can spot Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru. If you see Gaara of the Sand, that'll also be helpful."

"Got it." He said, increasing in altitude. Hopefully, they haven't done anything moronic yet. I clenched my fist at the thought, knowing Naruto there is little to no hope at the moment. If one of our comrades get hurt, Naruto will become the definition of impulsive.

"I-I see something.... and it isn't good..." Ryo imformed me, flying back towards me. "Gaara... His body... It's different..."

My eyes widen, and I cursed under my breath. I wielded some of my chakra to my feet, my speed advancing. This is just a conjecture, but I think Gaara may or may not have let out a part of his demon.

"Anything else?" I inquired, trying to get as much imformation as I can obtain.

"Just one more thing...." He began, his tone causing me to become more alarmed. "Your pink haired friend..."

"Sakura." I nodded, gritting my teeth.

"She's unconscious, and there's some kind of sand arm binding her." That was all that it took for me to go faster than the wind. At this point, Ryo was trying his best to keep up with me.

After a while I was imimmediately in front of Naruto. "Lily!" Naruto turned his attention towards me, his eyes big as saucers.

"You were right." I said, my arms in the air, shakingly. "Heroes do arrive at best time."

My vines were all around a giant sand beast. Under all of that, I knew for sure that it was Gaara. How did this esculate so quickly?

Gaara, or should I say Shukaku, tried to fight against my vines, ready to lash out on us. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Sasuke, with black marks spreading across his face, and Sakura stuck to the trunk of a tree by a large hand of sand.

I'm not really sure what just happened but I was sure as hell pissed by the state my team has been left in. By the looks of it, the beast not to far away from me seemed to become more angered when he saw me protecting Naruto.

"You've crossed the line!" I yelled angrily. "I won't let you harm them anymore!"

I clenched my teeth. I have a good amount of chakra, but I'm using so much force, and so many vines all at once. This is draining it, and I can't go on like this forever. The situation at hand only became more difficult when I sensed sand behind me.

At first I though I was about to be attacked by it, but no. The sand was wrapping around Naruto. "Blondie! You have to move!" I yelled. "I can't hold him any longer, and my chakra is beginning to lower quickly. Ryo was on my shoulder, using a power he is known for. He can keep my chakra from decreasing, but at this moment it's incredibly difficult to do so.

"Summoning Justu!" The Blonde exclaimed suddenly , and next thing I know is I'm on a gigantic toad. I slowly let my vines seep back into the ground, holding my head slightly, and breathing heavily. Next time I decided to just so recklessly overdo it with my Kekkei Genkai, I might as well jump off of Mt.Hokage head first.

However my current state didn't stop me from commenting,"Oh snap! I can't believe it! It's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!"

I could almost feel Naruto faceplam at me. "What did you say, brat!" the toad yelled. "I am Gamabunta! You are-"

"Wait..."Naruto interrupted, trailing of slowly. "How did you forget the difference between a frog and a turtle?"

"It's the same thing!" I waved him off dismissively.

"Lily, there's a huge difference!" Naruto yelled.

"They both have eyes.... And are-"

"This isn't the time for you two to classify species!" Ryo hissed, stopping are irrelevant topic. "Talk about it when there isn't a gigantic sand raccoon ready to kill us!"

After explaining what's going on to the giant toad/turtle, we had to formulate a plan and quick.

"You're a Yoshida, right?" Gamabunta asked. I nodded. "Alright listen up, we're going to have to take him head on, but we need you to hold him back at the right moment."

I nodded. As he began to explain Naruto's part in this. He'll have to think of something that could take on the one-tailed beast. Before I could even think, Gamabunta began running forward, and so did Shukaku.

"Alright kid!" Once again, for the billionth time today I grit my teeth, trying to get a hold of myself. I rose my arms, and vines began to wrap around Shukaku. Because of my lack of chakra, the vines weren't very strong so I had to use a greater amount to keep them from snapping.

"Do this Blondie!" I shouted. He nodded."I'm going to end this!" He yelled. And he formed a few handsigns, and Gamabunta looked like.... I'm not really sure, but he looked very much like... The Ninetails!

Yep, leave it to Naruto....

With great force, the attack hit, and we fell onto the ground. Gaara, Naruto and I. Rain began to soak are clothing and we were covered in mud.

Naruto started inching towards Gaara with his chin, and I was breathing heavily."Why?" The red head asked, "Why do you keep fighting? All because of them?" Naruto headbud him, and I couldn't help but wince at that, both of their foreheads were bleeding.

"B-Because.... They saved me from myself." He answered looking over at me."Before, I had no friend, I was alone, but my frineds, they took me out of my own darkness. Now I will stop at nothing to protect them."

I shakily sat up, crawling over to the Blonde only to collapse right beside him. "Gaara...." I spoke, and he looked over at me."Thank you

He was suprised, and confused, but I didn't explain myself, I was just too tired. And I couldn't help but smile a bit. Maybe because we beated Gaara....or maybe it was because it was finally over. Everything.... We had gotten through the Chunnin Exams. Jumped through every obstacle course, and surprisingly made it out alive...

Then there was this different aura coming from Gaara. It was no longer hate or bloodlust.... It was a change in heart.

Basil Fact! Basil's hobby is collecting random things. He usually thinks that they'll come in handy sometimes, and oddly enough they do. He can create and fix just about anything. Well maybe not create everything... But oh you know what I mean!
