Boy in A Bar

"I can only promise to love you in this moment" He leaned closer to me, the scent of his cologne radiating around him.

"What if I said that was all I needed?" I questioned as I crossed my legs on the bar stool.

"Then you wouldn't be telling the truth, you're the kind of girl who wants to love me forever" He gave me a slight smirk.

"A bit presumptive on your part, you're not that special" I rolled my eyes, but smiled back.

"Maybe not, but you are. You deserve more than a guy like me. I'll only break your heart" I smiled as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"I think I should be the judge of that" I replied. He smiled back as he leaned in closer to me. I never thought my eighteenth birthday would be the day I got my first kiss, but as Dean continued to get closer, it became a reality. I felt his soft lips touch mine and for a second I sat taking in the moment, but soon kissed him back. Our lips moved in sync and he used his hand to move me even closer to him. I soon had to pull away as I was running out of oxygen.

"I'll be right back" He winked at me as he walked away. I sat waiting for him for three hours before I realized he was right; he was going to break my heart.

Present

I laid in bed thinking about that night, the night that I had my first kiss, the night he managed to capture my heart within a few hours. Despite it being a year ago, I still think about that night a lot. Probably more than I should. Inside, I know it's impossible to care for someone I had only known for a few hours, but Dean was unlike any guy I had ever met and possibly any guy I will meet. Shaking the thoughts from my head I got up to start my day. I did my usual routine of hair and makeup before going downstairs to see my older brother Cian sitting at the kitchen table eating cereal.

"Morning" He smiled at me as I entered the room.

"Morning, big day today!" I grabbed the cereal and made myself a bowl.

"We're meeting the newest member today! I heard he is excellent!" I smiled at my excited brother.

"I'm so proud of you Cian." I replied as he blushed.

"Thanks, sis. You want to come to rehearsal today?" He asked and I shrugged. I never actually met his bandmates, however, spending hours at a recording studio listening to them go over logistics didn't exactly sound fun to me.

"No thanks. I would just be a distraction" I put my bowl in the sink and sat back down.

"You would not! It doesn't matter though; I've invited the boys to stay the night so we can get to know the new member.

"All right, I'll see you tonight then." I got up, kissed Cian on the cheek, then walked back to my room where I planned to spend the next few hours finishing homework. I must have fallen asleep because I was awoken by the sound of rowdy boys yelling from downstairs. Not wanting to interrupt them, yet being hungry, I mentally battled myself on whether I should go downstairs or not. I decided that I would have to eventually. I fixed myself up in the mirror and walked downstairs. Six boys, including my brother, sat on the sofa. Trying to be quiet I walked to the kitchen. My ninja moves apparently need brushing up on, because Cian noticed me.

"Evie!" He yelled and I sighed, but turned around to face him. I scanned the room of the boys now currently staring at me.

First was my brother, beside him was an adorable blonde boy, beside him was a dark haired boy who was smiling at me, beside him was a boy who had a guitar in his arms and a notebook in his lap, and beside him was a boy with longer brown hair. I turned my attention to the sixth boy and my heart nearly jumped out my chest. I felt my face go red and my body freeze. Cian must have noticed something was off because he was at my side in an instant.

"Evie? All you alright?" He questioned grabbing my shoulders. I tore my gaze away from the sixth boy and stared at my brother.

"I'll be upstairs" I ripped myself from his grip and I ran upstairs trying not to let the sob escape. I locked the door behind me and I fell to the floor letting my back rest against the door. Bringing my knees to my chest I cried silently. I never thought I would see him again. He shouldn't affect me the way he does. He was just a guy in a bar, but now he's my brother's bandmate.

Author's Note:

For those who do not know who HomeTown is, they are an Irish boyband who have captured my heart! Especially Dean Gibbons! They are managed by Louis Walsh, known for managing Westlife and being an Xfactor judge. Directioners know them as the band that Liam wrote a song for. This story is inspired by their newest single, The Night We Met, however, I will not be taking the song word for word and using it in this story (if that makes sense).

I've included the video to the song. Go check it out!
