Chapter 2
Ellie
We get to fountain square and stand in the middle just as Stars Fury show up.
I walk up to their leader as he walks up to me. We shake hands and nod once, signaling to start, and for our DJ to begin the song. The rules are whoever challenges the other crew lets the others have their DJ play a song of their choice. Our crews DJ is Kelly, who we called up and is ready to go. We both stand off, facing each other as the music starts playing.
They don't hesitate as they begin their dance, doing fancy moved, bringing people in to watch as they crowd around in a circle. I just shake my head at them.
'Never throw in your best moves at the beginning, and especially when you up first.' I think before our crew cuts them off, starting our dance. People start clapping and cheering, noticing the marks on both our clothes, signaling the two different crews. This isn't the first time we've dancing in public, so people know what's happening as soon as we begin.
We both dance through the song, doing flips, head spins and all sorts.
It's near the end of the song now, and I smile, giving a small nod to Ryan as he nods back with a smile of his own.
Then on the last few seconds of the song, I run full speed at Ryan. He holds his hands out and I jump on them, letting him flip me high into the air. I remember how long it took us to get this move, and I can't help but feel free as I flip through the air, feeling light as all the lessons of hard work pay off in this short moment.
Then as I feel myself get closer and closer to the ground once more, I stick my arms out, again pushing off of Ryan's hand with as much force as I can, and do another backflip before landing on the floor, posing with the rest as the song ends. I hear people cheering loudly, and soon our crew lets out a cheer of our own as people start shouting out our name, signaling the winner. I feel the sweat run down my face behind the mask, my chest rising and falling deeply as we celebrate. Then we quickly finish shaking the other crew, before going one final cheer. Soon though we hear sirens in the background, and hurriedly make our way back to each other.
"Seems someone called the cops, you know the drill." I tell them, each of us giving a quick nod, before scattering in opposite directions. I run as fast as I can, weaving in and out of people before slipping into a small mostly deserted shop. I make my way through the back entrance, giving a small wave to the owner, an old friend. Then taking my mask and over shirt with the crew name on it off in one quick move, I looking around to make sure no one saw, before walking out back onto the street. I put my head down and wait until hear the police run past, before I relax my shoulders and head home.
I know the drill when I get home. Taking out my phone I go onto out group messages, texting a ok, letting others know I got away fine. I get five other ok's making me frown when I notice Ryan hasn't sent one.
Quietly I go to my room, giving a quick kiss goodnight to Mum and a hug to dad on the way. Then walking across my room, I sit and wait on my bed, staring at my phone as I wait for Ryan's message, letting us know he's alright.
However when an hour passes and it begins dark, still with no message, I start to worry.
I pace around for a few moments deciding to take a shower to calm my nerves. I'm halfway through dressing, only wearing my lacy white bra and underwear, the exact same as yesterday except white, when I hear a knock at my window.
