Amanda's POV.
The bloody dog was barking again. As much as I love him, sometimes I seriously dislike him. "Alright, Pebbles (random), alright." I muttered, swinging my legs out of bed. The pink digital clock on my bed side table tells me it's almost half one. I could vaguely remember Amy waking me up to ask if I wanted to go to Lou's with her, since she had to do homework or something. Yeah, because I love spending my Saturday mornings doing homework. I wandered over to the mirror, ready to assess the damage from the night before. My dark brown eyes were ringed in circles of dark make-up and my lips were smudged with pale pink lipstick. My hair was sticking up in a million angles, even though it'd been dead straight the night before.
I sighed and made my way to the bathroom. Better clean all that make-up off before Mum saw me, she's forever telling me to look after my skin. I dragged a brush through my hair and scraped it back in a pony tail. It was one of those days where I really couldn't be bothered. Mooching back to my room, I pulled on a pair of leggings and a baggy old t-shirt.
Downstairs, an extremely yappy Yorkshire terrier was waiting for me. "Okay, I'm here now. You can shut the fuck up." I muttered to him, opening the door to the garden. He ran out at full speed, almost crashing into a wall, barking his head off. Strange dog. I poured myself a glass of squash and got a yoghurt out of the fridge. Sadly, I'm not one of those people that can eat what they want and not get fat at all. I have to work out and eat next to nothing to have anything resembling a good figure. Amy, on the other hand, has the best body I've seen, and she can easily eat three McDonalds in a day, and not gain one bit of weight. Thing about Ams is that she really doesn't care what people think, even if she did gain weight, she wouldn't care either way.
I sighed and leaned back against the counter, going over last night's events in my mind. We'd arrived at the party and straight away Lou and Amy were on the pills. Those two, forever egging each other on. I don't do drugs, the occasional spliff, but that's all. But they have tried coke, smoke weed regularly and take pills when they party. We'd had a few drinks together, then our little group had separated. Zayn disappeared, Niall and Harry were off with some girls, and Amy was with Ashton...I lost track of Liam and louis to when Calum came up to me. Calum Hood . He is the most popular, best looking boy in our entire school. I've fancied him since I saw him for the first time, and recently he's been taking notice of me. He flirts with me and drops hints, and I think we've even been close to kissing a few times. I would give anything for him to kiss me, but he's got so many other girls that would do the same. He's always hanging around with girls that are more popular or ten times prettier than me. I don't blame him.
My phone buzzed with a text from Mum. 'Don't forget you're taking Alicia to ballet at one. Hope you had a good night xx' Shit. I had forgotten I was supposed to be walking my sister to ballet. "''Licia!" I yelled. "Where are you?" No reply. I stalked through the house, thinking she'd probably be in the living room, watching TV. I was right, my twelve year old sister was sprawled out on the sofa i her pyjamas watching Pop Girl. "Alicia! Hurry up and get dressed! We've got to be at ballet in like half a hour!" Alicia sighed. "I don't wanna go! Ballet is boring!" I put my hand on my hip. "Alicia, you know Mum wants you to go. I'll buy you an ice cream afterwards? Now go and get ready!" Alicia swung her legs off the sofa and made her way upstairs. "I'm not a little kid anymore! You can't buy me out with ice cream!" I rolled my eyes, wandering back into the kitchen. Yeah, whatever.
I clipped Pebbles lead on and locked the door, my sulking sister behind me. She acts younger than twelve, mainly because the age difference between is quite a lot and she's the 'baby' of the family. I dropped Alicia off at ballet, and one of the other Mums said she'd drop her back at home to save me the walk. On my way home, who should I bump into, but Calum. And I was wearing a tatty old top and leggings that had been washed so many times that they had next to no elastic left. Great. He was texting away on his phone, so I walked past with my head down in the hope that he wouldn't see me. Fat chance. "Amanda, is that you?" Fuck. I turned round to face him with my best smile plastered on my face. "Oh, hey Calum! Didn't see you!" Calum smirked. Nice one Amanda, because that wasn't a totally obvious lie. "You alright? Recovered from last night?" He winked. He actually winked. I could feel myself about to melt. "Uhm... y-yeah. I'm okay. You?" Calum nodded. "I'm fine. Listen, do you wanna come with me to this party thing Marcus is having. Y'know Marcus, he's in your Spanish class I think?" I stared at him, open mouthed. Had Calum fucking Hood just asked me out?! Oh my fucking god. "Amanda?" I snapped out of it. "Um, sure! Yeah, I'd love to go!" He was looking at me a bit strangely. I didn't blame him. "Okay, cool. It's tonight, I'll drop by yours to pick you up around half nine, okay?" I nodded and waved goodbye. Had he really just asked me out. Really? After all this time messing around and flirting he'd finally asked me out. I couldn't believe it.
I banged on Louis' front door. "Alright, alright! I'm coming!" I could hear Lou saying, as he opened the door. "Oh, hey Panda. Come in." "Morning!" I replied, following him indoors. "What's got you so smiley this morning?" Oh, so he'd noticed the ridiculously huge grin on my face, then. I grinned at him even more. "Calum asked me to go to Marcus' house party tonight!" Lou tried to look happy for me, he really did. He doesn't like Calum one bit, I don't really know why. They just don't get on. "Oh. Um, that's great, Panda."
I rolled my eyes at him and walked into his living room, where Amy was sitting watching TV. Both their guitars were resting on the floor, and she was surrounded by screwed up sheets of paper and empty food wrappers. Typical. I gingerly moved aside one of the wrappers - strawberry poptart- and sat down. "Hey, Amanda" Said Bobbi, turning to smile at me. "You okay?" I nodded, almost ready to burst with my news. "Yes! You'll never guess what?! Calum just asked me to go to a party with him tonight!" Amy's expression was the spitting image of Lou's.
I frowned. "Can you guys not be happy for me, just for once?" I whined, pulling my legs up underneath me. I don't know what their problem was, and it was pissing me off. I watched my best friends exchange a look. "We are happy for you, Amanda. We are. But you need to be... careful with him. He's been a dick to a few girls in the past... we don't want the same to happen to you." Said Amy gently. I raised an eyebrow. "He's always been nice to me. And all those other girls were sluts. You guys know that!" There was a bit of an awkward silence after that, until Louis spoke. "Um, shall we play Mario for a bit?" And just like that, our little fight was fixed.
