Cassandra couldn't wait to get inside. The lights were off but it was warm and dry. Edward floated in behind her and disappeared into the next room. She watched as the sprite scampered away a slight glow emanating around it. Cassandra smiled and hung up her coat. Her shoes flew off and she lumbered into her living room.

"Cassandra Thames." A calm, quiet voice emanated from the armchair next to the book case in Cassandra's living room. "I have been waiting for you."

Cassandra let out a small squeak of shock. Suddenly the room was illuminated with a soft light emanating from the lamp just to the right of the chair. Cassandra stared at the small girl, leaning back in the armchair leisurely. She wore a simple whit dress and was flipping through one of Cassandra's largest books. The girl had silvery, white hair, pale skin, and gold eyes that flashed with age old wisdom. But that's not what caught Cassandra's attention. The girl had two ginormous, downy white wings, that spread over the edges of the armchair and onto the floor.

"Who- what are you?" Cassandra massaged her skull tiredly.

"My name is Karrae, I am an angel of the LORD." The angel put down the book she had been looking at and yawned. "You humans, the ending was so predictable." She gestured towards the multiple books behind her. "As a matter a fact, all of these were much to simple for my taste."

"Um..." Cassandra sat down on the couch across from the girl. "I'm sorry to disappoint you" Karrae just nodded solemnly. "Is there something I can get you?"

The angel frowned. "No, as an angel I want for nothing."

"That's not what I meant." Cassandra let out a little laugh. "So why exactly are you here?"

Karrae seemed to be contemplating an answer when the sprite leapt onto her lap. It sniffed the Angels flashing hair. It seemed to approve of the mysterious visitor and proceeded to lock her face. The angel's laugh sound like millions of tiny, silver bells.

"Gaganpreet, sky lover, you have found yourself a worthy pet." Karrae affectionately rubbed the sprite's head.

"Gaga-what now?" Cassandra shook her head. "You know what, never mind. I call it Preet."

Karrae nodded. "Now, as you humans would say, down to business." Giant wings lifted and rubbed the ceiling as the girl stood. "I need you to come with me."

"What!?!? No."

Karrae looked genuinely surprised at Cassandra's response. "Why not? I hope this has nothing to do with the ghost hiding in you kitchen."

Cassandra frowned. "You mean Edward? I just met him."

"Yes, I know. You met him this evening at the library." Karrae gestured as if beckoning someone towards her.

Edward appeared dejectedly and moved forward. "I swear I wasn't trying to hide, miss. It just that I'm not quite ready to... you know.... move on." Edward was turning red with embracement.

The angel smiled. "I understand but I am not here for you." She glanced at Cassandra. "I repeat, you need to come with me now. Your very life may be in danger."

Cassandra found herself massaging her forehead tiredly. Too much was happening in one day. She was hungry and tired and also sick of weird things happening to her. She wasn't sure she could handle much more of this. Now her life might be in danger! She leaned back in her chair and sighed. Preet climbed up onto her lap. The sprite let out a loud purr of contentment and became oblivious to the world around it.

The angel tipped her head sideways in confusion. "I do not understand how I can make this clearer."

"Just give me a second to think."

Karrae gave Cassandra another confused look. "A second does not seem like an adequate amount of time to make a decision."

Cassandra rolled her eyes. "You need to be caught up on figures of speech, Karrae."

"It does not matter what figure you speech takes, the fact remains, you are in danger and I am here to protect you. You have the gift of prophecy, that is both powerful and dangerous if in the wrong hands."

"The gift of... prophecy?" Cassandra gently pushed Preet off her lap and stood up. She paced the room; a mixture of emotions swirling through her. "You've got to be kidding me."

"I assure you this is no joke."

"Maybe you should consider what she is offering, Cassandra." Edward floated uncomfortably in the corner. "I do believe she knows what she's talking about."

Karrae nodded once. "Yes. Edward is correct in assuming that I know about that of which I speak."

Cassandra rolled her eyes. Suddenly she froze in her tracks; she was seeing something. She watched as a scene unfolded before her eyes. It was like watching a movie as it happened all around her. Karrae was expertly fighting with two swords that Cassandra hadn't noticed , Edward kept appearing and disappearing in different spots fighting in a strange but effective fashion, and Preet was growling and biting ankles. Their were hundreds of attackers they all had different forms but the same smokey, black bodies and glowing red eyes. The kitchen was completely destroyed the living room had become a battle ground.

Cassandra shut her eyes and stumbled backwards. She hit the floor with a thud and opened her eyes to see Edward staring at her worriedly and Karrae had a small smile on her lips. Preet whined and put paw on Cassandra's lap.

"Now do you believe me?" Karrae's golden eyes flashed knowingly.

     "What-what just happen?"

Karrae seemed to be about to answer when there was a crash from outside. All heads turned towards the kitchen.

"I'll go check it out." Edward vanished soundlessly and returned just seconds later. "I'm afraid we may have a problem."

Two glowing swords speared in Karrae's hands. "I was afraid of this. It is too late for us to escape, now we must fight."
