The first attacker looked like a mix between a dog and a boar. It had nasty tusk and tiny, red eyes that glowed angrily. It swung a giant ax that completely destroyed the kitchen table with one hit. Karrae made quick work of it though and it disengaged with a terrifying sequel before dissolving into a pile of black dust. More black b sat were streaming in through where the kitchen wall had been.
"You need to escape, Cassandra!" Edward begun to maneuver through the dark creatures just how he had in the vision. "We'll hold them off as long as possible."
"No way! I'm staying here, with you guys." Cassandra grabbed the nearby lamp and held it above her head menacingly. "I can help."
"Edward is right." Karrae sliced through a line of monsters like they were nothing more than rag dolls. "My orders are to keep you alive, the best way for me to do that is if you escape while you still can."
Cassandra looked at the two determinedly. Then her eyes grew wide. With a shock she realized that this was the exact scene she had just seen earlier. Everything happened exactly the same; she even recognized on the the smokey monsters as it was felled by Preet's gnashing fangs. She set her jaw and dove into the fray. She made contact with a beast's head. The lamp shattered but the gorilla like creature went down hard, dissolving as it hit the floor.
Cassandra looked over to see Karrae frown and then roll her eyes. "If you are so adamant about staying then you'll need a weapon." With that she threw Cassandra on of her swords.
The fight was long and hard. Cassandra sustained more than a few injuries but finally the waves of enemies seemed to die away and the were again alone in the demolished living room.
"This is not over," Karrae swiped away a trickle of golden blood that ran down her left arm, "there will be more. Your life will now be hanging in the balance. The balance between good and evil." She paused as if thinking, then nodded. "You have will have me by your side and I vow that, as long as my Father allows it or until a draw my final breath, I will protect you."
"As will I." Edward floated forward heroically then blushed. "If you'll let me, that's is."
Preet put a paw on Cassandra's knee and let out a small mew. Tears were beginning to form in Cassandra's eyes. She nodded. "What did I do to deserve this?"
"Absolutely nothing at all." Karrae answered matter-o-factly.
Cassandra smiled. "We'll work on you understanding of the human speech as we go."
"As we go? You mean-" Karrae smiled slightly. "It will be dangerous. You have a a very powerful enemy. Are you sure you want to go through with this?"
Cassandra rubbed Preeks had and smiled. "Bring it on."
