The cost of moving dimentions

The next morning I decide to get up early and explore the town a bit more.
Sneaking out with ease my first destination was sugar cube corner where I snuck a few cupcakes in order for pinkie not to come down.
"That is the smartest thing a newcomer has ever done" Mrs. Cake said.
"Pinkie would wake up the whole town!"
After leaving the sweets store I just wandered around.
Eventually landing at the train station where I just kinda watched a few ponies walking around and eavesdropped on a few conversations.
I tend to do that when there's nothing else for me.
Besides, it helps me figure out who is safe to be around and who to avoid and for what reasons.
I even caught a young couple trying to unload multiple packs with an infant and a young colt.
I rush over and offer to carry some bags for them and they greatly took the offer.
I guess something good did come out of all that weight lifting.
"Thank you so much miss." The stallion said.
"We really should have brought everything in multiple trips."
I attempt a small giggle and tell them that it wasn't a problem.
"But won't you miss your train?" Asked the colt.
His mother giving me a nervous look.
"Oh! No, I wasn't getting on a train. I just like hanging around there a bit."
The couple exchange glances.
"Why a train station? Why not a hill or a meadow or something?"
I laugh again.
"I kinda like being able to see people from where I am. Even if I don't make friends often it's nice when others are around and I enjoy helping others there when I have nothing to do."
The two nod.
"So your like a vigilante of sorts?"
"More than you'll ever know."
As we reach the new home of the couple the sun is already rising and ponies are headed out for work.
I wonder if I could get a job soon.
"So where are y'all coming from?" I ask.
"Manehattan, we figured ponyville was a better place to stay because of its lack of crowds, not to mention we got some awful neighbors. Honestly all they do is launch fireworks on school nights and throw parties!" The mare said.
I nod in understanding.
I never had the best neighbors back home either.
"Well you'll be happy to know you've moved in by Lyra and Bon Bon. They are both really sweet neighbors, even if they are not exactly the most normal of ponies."
"Well that's good to know."
"Oh and before I forget, teach this young colt a few comebacks for bullies. There's only one mean filly but she packs a punch."
"O-kay then...well remember that."
I laugh.
It was sorta nice hanging around the ponies.
I already knew most of them and unlike the humans from my world, I knew it would be rare for any to turn on you for no reason.
Though, out of habit, I still didn't like taking chances.
"So, have you lived in ponyville for a while?" Asked the stallion.
"No, I've only been here a day."
I stiffen as I realized I showed I know so much about the town and only being here for one day makes that strange.
"Oh... Is that so? You seem to know a lot about this town though."
"Well... I used to take vacations here as a filly-ish, So I know a bit about the place."
Geez!
Even after hiding from enemies and having to disguise myself in a war, I still stink at lying!
But the family of earth ponies just shrugged and continued unpacking.

By the time we were done unloading it was nearly noon and I figured I should say goodbye to the family and find Fluttershy.
She must think I've run off.
So after searching around town for an hour I decide just to see if I could visit Twilight and ask to hang out in her library fir a bit.
What's the harm in a little reading.
And maybe Twi and I could bond a little.
I want to try bonding a bit with all ponies to be honest.
When I reach the castle I notice there are royal guards out front and an annoyed looking Applejack standing by them.
"Hey Applejack." I say.
"What's going on?"
"Celestia decided to give Twilight a surprise visit."
"Why?"
"Something about portals."
"Like the mirror to canterlot high?"
"I'm not sure that's it."
She turns to peer through a window.
I do the same.
I could see Celestia holding that book on hybrids and Twilight gave her a look I couldn't read.
Glad my ears are practically that of a dog.
"What...mean...are opening...in Equestria?...Canterlot High was... How... Be more, and...universe are they from?"
"Not sure...reason to... This world is...and what...may...be dangerous."
I wanted to hear more but even if my hearing is better than most, it had a limit.
-----------------------------------------
After what seemed like hours, several other ponies came to see what was going on.
I met up with Fluttershy and explained my morning, and thankfully she wasn't mad at me.
And I think I fell asleep after a while, because I kept getting images of... The enemy... From my home.
I hated any dreams I had with her in them.
When I woke up I found myself, along with half of ponyville, lying in the grass, still waiting for the alicorns to come out and explain everything.
Geez what kinds of portals are these?!
Just as I feel like leaving, due to the sun setting, the sound of doors violently opening caused me, along with many others, to turn back around.
Celestia and Twilight were standing in the doorway.
I instantly sat down so that Celestia might not be so alarmed by my being taller than she was.
But even as she opened her mouth to speak, she gave an awful look in my direction.
At first I was going to let my awkward appearance be an excuse for nervousness.
But that wasn't what I saw.
She was glaring at me with fury,to the point where I knew, even without searching her memory.

She saw me fall from my home world into Equestria.

"We wish not to bring alarm..." The princess started, her gaze moving around the crowd.
"But it has come to our knowledge that three portals have opened up in Equestria, and appear to be from a dangerous land."
A few ponies begin to panic, one stallion screaming "NOT AGAIN!"
Celestia turned her gaze at me again.
"We now know that four beings have emerged from these portals."
Four?
I watch as a hoof is raised into the air.
"Yes?" Twilight responds.
The pony stands up and I recognize her as Bon Bon.
Please Agent Sweetie Drops, don't ask it!
"Do you know where any of them are?"
She asked it!
"Yes." Celestia says. "One of them is in this very crowd."
A few ponies scream and I see many turn towards me.
Most looking at me in fear, some in denial, some in anger.
Celestia points a hoof at me.
But before I could speak, try to explain, two ponies jump in front of me in protest.
Pinkie and Fluttershy.
"If Hope Shadow really is from another dimension, why don't you let her speak!" Pinkie screamed.
Twilight then made it clear that she didn't know who's side she was on.
"Well how to you think she knows so much about Equestria!? But even if there's a chance that she's part of an invasion, let's hear her out anyway."
Celestia, slowly, put her hoof down and nodded.
"Let her speak."
I'll never understand that princess.
"Your right, I am not of this world and I can be dangerous, very dangerous. But I chose not to be. My world is also dangerous, but that's why we are leaving it."
A pony calls me a coward.
"There's something invading my home and many were evacuated, while soldiers stayed back to fight it so that we may come back one day."
Celestia gave me an eyebrow.
"What is invading your world?"
I pause.
I couldn't tell her. Not that I made her.
Not that I am a part of it. Not that it might as well be said that It. Was. ME!

"Well." Celestia said, getting impatient.
"Speak or this will be reason to become suspicious."
"me." I whisper.
"What?"
"ME!!!"
Half of the ponies jump back as my answer could be heard across Equestria.
"What do you mean?" Twilight asked softly.
I stand up.
"As a teen, I was foolish. I messed with a prototype portal as a child and I accidentally released and alternate version of myself."
Pinkie braids my mane as I continue to speak, which helped calm me down.
"I thought it was great. We could be friends, I wouldn't be lonely anymore.
"But I was so wrong! She turned on me and everything. She brought up an army among the enemies of my world and forced us into war.
"And for a long time, I hid that it was me, made friends, even fought her forces... But eventually it was too much and many were forced to leave, even if we wanted to fight."
Most ponies give me denying looks, while a few looked sad.
"So and evil version of you?" Celestia said angrily.
Why did she have to have issues like that!
I sigh.
"Shadow Phantom, that's her name."
Celestia nodded.
"Could she have followed you?"
"No, the portals are closely monitored and they can only be voice activated. All of them were to be shut down when all transportations were made."
The princesses nod again and walk towards me.
I look down, gold eyes glowing as I've discovered that while doing this I can't shed tears.
"Do you know who else came behind me?"
"We only know one by name. He was teleported into my throne room. I questioned him immediately but he stuttered in every answer and I noticed he had a weapon. So he was locked up until we could figure anything else." Celestia said blushing in embarrassment as well as anger, clearly still not trusting me.
"Where is he now?"
"I'll take you."
A few others asked to come as well.
"I'll only take Hope Shadow, Twilight, Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie."
And the eight of us walked to the train station, on our way to Canterlot.
