I woke up, in a bed. Small, but comfortable. The room around me was covered in nothing but black walls. My ankle was shackled to a pole on the wall, making it hard to move. I turned around, seeing my wings there. The blue and white feathers appeared nauseating, the thought of having something as irregular as wings on my back didn't help.
The large metal door opened up, as a woman let herself in. She sat down in a chair next to me, the scraping sound of the legs of the chair on the cement floor bothered me.
"I'm Tamrynn." She said, crossing her legs. Her thick brown hair reaching her thighs, and her hazel eyes dull. "Alex sent me in here to talk to you. Apparently you have been shifting too much, somewhat erratically. Do you think there might be something causing this?" She asked me, making it seem as though she was seeing into my soul.
"No, not at all." I said, laying back down, my stomach craving food.
"Do you need anything? We have food for you in the common room, if you would like any." She asked me, gesturing out the door.
"Um," I began, thinking about my decisions. "sure. Why not? I'm starving." I concluded, getting up, only to remember I still had a chain on my foot. Looking down, I was unsure I would be safe. I could hurt someone.
"You'll be fine. We'll give you Olossal. It's a potion that will keep you from transforming for a short while. It's enough time to get to be in the common room and have a decent meal, instead of the ones we've been injecting into you." She said, as she walked over to the shackle, and she began to unlock it.
"Wait, why couldn't you have given me this earlier?" I asked, feeling as though they'd hidden this from me for a reason.
"You couldn't have, well, not unless you wanted to die. Using it on someone who had just became a hawkan can be critical, because the body is adjusting to having wings. It's too much for the body to have to process while having Olossal in it. It is fatal when just becoming a hawkan, so we don't use is, obviously. You can use it now, because your body has adjusted to it. Well, at least more than before. You'll be fine . Your wings have matured." She said, holding her hand out to me to help me up with the weight of wings on my back.
"Now, come with me." Tamrynn said, walking me out of the room.

The room I was in was dark, as Tamrynn slipped a needle into my arm. The Olossal flooded my veins as she flicked the bag of fluid.
"You're all good." She said, taking out the needle, and placing it on a tray. "You should be okay for another three hours or so."
"Thank you." I said plainly, as we walked out of the room, Tamrynn leading me to the common room.
