Santana spent the whole day looking forward to the ultrasound. She paced around the room waiting for Monica to arrive from her job. She couldn't wait to see the baby and hear its heartbeat.
Monica arrived at around 4 pm.
"I'm just going to change and we'll go, okay?"
"Yeah. Just hurry."
"Someone's excited."
"I can't wait. Is it wrong of me to be excited?"
"No, not at all." Monica answered as she walked to he bedroom. She came back out a few minutes later. "Alright, lets go."
Santana was nervous and excited all in one. She drummed her fingers on the dashboard of the car.
"Stop that."
"Sorry. I'm just anxious." Santana wrung her hands.
"Understandable."
They pulled up to the hospital. They took a seat in the waiting area. Many of the woman there were big. There were a few with a small bump and then there was one or two with no bump. No teenagers. She was the only one.
She watched as woman went in and out. Most of them were with their husband or with their mother's. Most seemed to be in their late twenties to mid thirties. Monica and Santana were the only ones who were fairly young.
"Santana Lopez." Santana shot up at the sound of her name. Monica was right behind her.. They felt the pair of eyes following them.
They entered a room. The ultrasound machine was already inside. The doctor walked in a few moments later.
"Alright, so which one of you is Santana Lopez?" The doctor smiled.
"That's me."
"Well, Ms. Lopez, lie down. Pull up your shirt. This will be cold." The woman rubbed the gel on her abdomen. "I'm Doctor Harris by the way. I will be monitoring your pregnancy and most likely be the one that will be there for you birth. I suspect this is your first, am I correct?"
"Yes."
"Is this your sister?"
"My aunt actually."
"I see." Dr. Harris nodded. She moved the wand around. "That's your baby." She pointed to the screen.
"Wow." She was speechless. That was her baby.
"You're around to 9 weeks. You can't tell the sex just yet, but you can listen to its heartbeat with the doppler. Would you like to listen to its heartbeat?"
"Yes." She nodded. Dr. Harris brought the doppler in. After a few moments of searching they found it. She was completely mesmerized by the sound. It wasn't very loud, but she could hear it.
"It'll be louder the next time you get an ultrasound. I'm going to prescribe prenatal vitamins."
She couldn't stop staring at the ultrasound picture. She stared at them till she had fallen asleep.

One month later
"Monica! Monica!" She yelled.
"What?! What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Monica burst through the door.
"I popped."
"You what?"
"I popped. I have a baby bump." She lifted her shirt to show her the bump. It was small, but it was noticeable.
"Honestly, it just looks like you are a big lunch."
"Don't be a hater, tia."
"Whatever. Did you call your mom, yet?"
"No, not yet. I'm going to Skype her." Monica nodded and walked out of the room.
Her mother and father's faces popped up on her laptop screen.
"Hola, mija." Maribel waved.
"Hola, mama. Hola, papa."
"How have you been? Is Monica treating you right?"
"I've been great and Monica has been great. I have something to show you two." She stood up so they could see the bump.
"You started showing! Oh my god, you look so adorable." Maribel squealed.
"Thank you. How have you and papi been?"
"We've been good, but your mami misses you like crazy." Carlos told her.
"I miss both of you two. Only 7 more months to go."
"That's sounds so far away." Maribel groaned.
"Trust me. It'll be over before you know it." They continued to talk till Santana got tired.
She slept in the next morning. Monica didn't work so they were both home.
That morning they went to a check up.
"Hello, Santana." Dr. Harris smiled.
"Hi." She smiled. She lied down on the bed. She already knew what was coming. The doctor moved the wand around. This time, Santana could hear the heartbeat without the doppler.
"Everything is fine and your baby seems to be healthy. It has a strong heartbeat and it seems like its growing at the correct rate." Santana sighed in relief. Every time she came she always worried that something was wrong. She knew she shouldn't worry, but she was paranoid.
"You wanna go to the movies, kiddo?" Monica asked as they entered the car.
"Sure."
They spent 3 hours watching a rather dumb movie, but Santana felt weirdly relaxed. She didn't have anything on her mind. She felt like a normal teenager in that moment. She didn't have to worry about the baby or anything at all.
That is why she loved Monica. Sometimes, her carefree vibes rubbed off on you just enough to make you feel like there's nothing in the world to stop you.
"So, what you wanna do know?"
"I don't know. Usually the Saturday nights I get off are spent at the club. I obviously can't go now because you're here."
"We can still go." Santana smirked.
"Chica, you're underage and preggo."
"Ugh, you're no fun." Santana huffed.
"I'm not about to let my underage, pregnant niece go to a club and get drunk or go home with some random guy. The only thing you're about to do is go home." Monica wrapped her arm around Santana's shoulder. "Maybe we can do something else. Does ice cream and reality television sound good?"
"I'd like that." Santana smiled. The two girls made their ways to the car. Who says staying in isn't fun?

Chapter 3 is done and I just started chapter 4. Making some pretty good process.
The school year is coming to close and big things are happening. I'm pretty sure after the school year ends I'll have a lot more time to work on this story.
