"What?" Katie says, tears threatening to pour out of her eyes. Darcy begins sobbing again, but manages to tell her what's wrong.

"A b-brain t-tumor!" She screams.

***Darcy's POV***

"Wh-what?" Katie stutter at in disbelief. I look up at her, tears staining my cheeks.

"Why don't I start from the beginning?" I suggest, and I begin telling her what happened.

***Flashback***

My head was pounding. Never had I had a headache this intense. Once my class after lunch let out, I avoided Katie at the door and ran to the nurse. She sat me down on the table and asked me what was wrong.

"My head. It hurts like the dickens. You wouldn't believe it. I took two Advil this morning, but they aren't helping." Each word is painful to just think. Mrs. Daylong nods, and hands me a piece of paper.

"Here's a slip. You can go home the rest of the day. Feel better soon!" I thank her and take the slip. I manage to catch Marcel in the hall and tell him that I'm going to walk home. He shakes his head and gives me the keys, insisting that I take the car since I'm not feeling well. Knowing that he'll argue all day, and his class starts in five minutes, I thank him and take the keys. About half an hour after I get home, the pain becomes so unbearable that I start throwing up. I call Mum, and she rushes home. After an hour, the pain hasn't lessened, so she takes me to the ER. They get us in fairly quickly, and when I start explaining to the doctor how long this was going on, and how I thought it was only stress, he stops me and orders me an emergency head scan. It takes about an hour to get the results back, and by now it's 3:00. Mum calls Marcel and informs him that we might not be home when he gets back. I'll never forget the moment when the doctor told me what was wrong.
