You could hear your heart thumping loudly inside your chest as silence fell over the two of you. You were surprised that he heard your conversation with Hanzo, and at the same time, even more terrified. You shift your weight from your arms to your bottom as you sit-up straight, the tension in the air making you feel sick.

"Why were you eavesdropping?" You asked him, hiding the noticeable fear in your voice. "What business do you have with me?"

He rested his chin on his hand as he thought carefully, his eyes closed. This gives you the chance to study him further. He was, undoubtedly, strong. His muscular body and terrifying aura proved it. His face was scrunched up, the face paint of a teardrop and a star slightly stretched with his expression. His clothes were of a jester, though probably lessened so that he was able to move more.

"Hisoka?" You call out. This catches the Hunter's attention, and he smiles at you.

"I'm sorry, I was just thinking." He says, sitting down on the ground.

"Well, you think too much," You say out loud, although you didn't mean to. You shut your mouth, scared that you might have angered him, but saw that he was simply laughing. This made the tense atmosphere dissipate, which you were very glad for. "Now, what was your business with me?"

"Hm, I wonder.." He smirks at you, and you feel a sudden chill down your spine. "Want to know something?"

You stay still, focusing on the man in front of you. He chuckles, clearly amused by you.

"I've always been watching you." He says with a grim expression. Nervous, you started to gather all your aura on your hands, but you were stopped when you were taken by surprise.

Hisoka was right in front of you, face inches away, and hands on yours. He smiled, tutting you.

"Now, now. Why so aggressive, litte missy?" He chuckles darkly. You become more terrified. "Oh, how I love that expression." He pulls away, his hands still on yours, preventing you from doing anything.

"Hm, as I was saying, I've always been watching you. What transpired five years ago has left me wounded, oh, very much hurt." He says, sighing. He removes his right hand from yours, and removes the face paint on his cheeks. Your eyes widened as you remember that horrible night.

"(y/n)!" Hisoka yelled, trying to reach you. Chrollo stabs him on his thighs, rendering him immobile. Though, the man didn't seem to feel pain.

"Chrollo, please! Stop.. Just.. Stop.." You cry out, looking around you and seeing Feitan unconscious, the blow from your boss too strong for him to handle. You see other members of the Troupe, wounded. "I'll leave!"

"What?" Chrollo questioned, eyes glaring coldly and venom dripping from every word that came after. "You can't and won't. I own you. If you so desperately want to leave.." He lifts Hisoka's head up by pulling his hair. "..you'll have to hurt your beloved friend, right here."

"I—no.. You..you monster.." You mutter, head cast down, making Chrollo laugh like a madman.

"You loved me, sweetie. You LOVED the person you so-call a monster!"

It was sad, but true. You loved him. You loved Chrollo. And you only saw the changes in him when you joined the Troupe. You burned your skin where the tattoo once lay, and it angered him. You released the monster.

"(y/n)," you hear a calm voice. "It's okay. Just do it. If it's you, I'll be glad to die." You look up, and Hisoka was smiling at you. The man who came up to you one day when Chrollo had one of his fits, the one who offered you ice to put on your swollen cheek, the one who sneaked into the room Chrollo never allowed you to leave, just so he can show you magic tricks, the one who was caught trying to help you escape..

"Hi—Hisoka.. No.." You whisper, tears flowing freely down your cheeks.

"I'll be fine." He winks. "Let's play again in the afterlife, little missy."

You muster up the courage to gather your aura to your hands. You were determined to escape the hell love has become. Hisoka closed his eyes, ready to take the blow. Chrollo looked amused.

He disgusted you. But you still couldn't tell yourself to kill him.

Forming your hands into a gun-like shape, you point at Hisoka. You swallow back the sob threatening to come out, and shoot.

"Cellular.. Level.." You whisper, the nen from your hands released, making its way towards your friend. It splits into two, and hits him on both cheeks. The blow was enough to knock him out, but because of your nen, it still had some damage.

Chrollo looks displeased, and releases Hisoka. His head falls with a thump, and it makes you want to cry more. You glance at Machi, hoping she'd get the message. Her eyes widened, and she nodded stiffly.

"I am disappointed in you two, love. Hisoka." Chrollo sighs. "Leave. Trash like you shouldn't have joined in the first place."

You turn your back on him, finally free. Your back ached, the burns from trying to get rid of the tattoo still fresh. You run outside as fast as you can.

You were finally free.

"Hisoka.. You—" you had started to say, but you were interrupted.

"So, you remember now." He says calmly. "Do you have any idea how much that blow hurt?"

You look down at your hands as your tears threatened to fall.

"I'm sorry, Hisoka." You whisper, voice trembling. He was strangely silent for a while, before he spoke up with the same tone he used that night.

"Thank you for telling Machi to patch me up." He says, eyes on you. You look up, the tears now traveling down your cheeks. Hisoka wipes them away. "I didn't want to see you cry again, sweetie. I came here to make sure you weren't."

"I'm sorry.." You muttered once more. He chuckles.

"It's okay. I guess I just expected to die that night." He says. "I truly wished to die by your hand."

"I truly didn't want.." He trails off. Next thing you know, he was sitting beside you, smiling. "Anyways, I have a question for you. It's been bothering me for five years."

"..what?" You ask, tracing the scars on his face with your fingers. He closes his eyes, as if savoring the touch. He chuckles. You couldn't help but feel guilty, so you gathered up all your aura again.

"Do you plan to kill me?" He asks. You shake your head.

"My nen, Cellular Level, isn't just for harming people. It has two more names." You say, placing your hands on his face, cupping his cheeks. "Cellular Regeneration, and Cellular Degeneration."

You take your hands away finished with your work. You smile, your handiwork's perfect. Hisoka had no scars whatsoever left. Hisoka felt around his face, surprised. He smiles softly, thanking you.

"Ah, no worries. I did that to you, after all." You say, and then silence. You couldn't take it, so you spoke up. "What did you want to ask me again?"

Hisoka blinked, confused, before laughing. "Oh, right." He cleared his throat. "It always bothered me.. Why didn't you kill Chrollo back then? Why didn't you kill me?"

You look away, smiling. "I loved him. And I guess I loved you, too."

Ohhh my Goooood.... This is exhausting to write! I think I'm going on a fast pace here, but, whatever. I'm sleep deprived, and sick. But, I still got work, so that's neat.

Being a proofreader for a law firm is hard. Oh my God. (The head of the firm, the President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, praises me alot, so that's cool. Omfg)

Anyways, I rarely proofread, and only write stories when sleep deprived (dunno why I'm weird that way hue). Kirihiko-otou is sick, too. We overexert effort, and now he's in the hospital from being exhausted from work, university, and trying to help me around. Thanks, dad. Hope you feel better soon!

Anyways, woof. Thanks for reading. I'm gonna go collapse now. //sighs in relief
