Justin’s POV
*Recap*
The thumping grew louder as he approached and I closed my eyes, feeling my skin and bones stretch and move to fit the body of my wolf. I landed on my front paws and faced the trees, letting all of the built-up anger and anguish that I had to suffer in these past two months that Maddy has been gone come to the surface. It fueled the already-raging fire in my eyes, making me see nothing but red and hear nothing but the sound of his paws slapping the ground as he grew nearer.
My wolf took over mostly, preparing to attack him as soon as he was close enough. Not even ten seconds later I saw his wolf running right at me, barreling through the trees with his eyes trained on me. As he got closer my whole body tensed, crouching down as I readied myself to pounce…
**********
He launched toward me and I propelled myself through the air, meeting him halfway as we both toppled to the ground. I didn’t waste any time and lashed out, managing to snag his side even though he had tried to side-step it. With a snarl, he lunged forward and tried to land a blow on me but his paw sliced through empty air.
By the time he realized that I had moved I was already behind him, clamping my jaw around his left hind leg. He let out a pained yelp and I almost smiled. My wolf and I have been waiting for this for a long time. For the chance to make this bastard suffer like he made Maddy suffer. Whipping around, he bared his teeth at me and darted forward.
I dodged away from his claws but one of them broke skin, leaving a long slash from my right shoulder to my ribs. It isn’t that deep but it still burns. Glancing over for a brief second, my eyes locked onto Maddy instantly and I realized that we’re moving closer to her. Clenching my jaw, I edged my way around and started to back up in the opposite direction, leading him a safer distance away from her.

Maddy’s POV
Whimpering quietly, I watched as my ‘father’ and Justin fought. It kills me to just sit here and not be able to help. But if I try to shift into my wolf right now when I’m this weak it could kill me. So all I can do is sit here and watch until I’ve healed enough to shift. I hate feeling like this. Helpless. Weak. My mind is screaming at me to do something, anything to help but my body is screaming in pain and resistance. So, despite the battle that’s going on inside me, I just sat there and watched helplessly.
Justin spun around him again, this time jumping onto the fucker’s back and digging his claws into his flesh. Howling in agony, he thrashed around in an attempt to get him off. It didn’t work and Justin held on tight, digging his claws in deeper and raking them down his back. My father howled louder and thrashed more violently.
Eventually Justin let go and flew through the air, landing gracefully on his feet about ten feet away from where the other wolf was snarling furiously and whimpering in pain. My head snapped to the side and my eyes widened when I heard the sound of other wolves approaching. I don’t think they’re from Justin’s pack so that means…
