Chasing Stars- Bucky Barnes

Chapter 5

Winter/Bucky's POV

"Bucky, this really isn't necessary."
Steve complains as he glances at the handcuffs chaining my hands together. The team brought us to Stark Tower, after removing the tracking tags from us.

"It might be. I don't know what HYDRA did to my brain but they could still be in there, and I can't hurt you. Not again. Sparks, Steve, I'm so sorry. You know I would never try to hurt you." I respond. Frost sighs impatiently.

"Ok, while you two are having your little love fest, can someone please tell me what the stars is going on?" She demands.

"That's a fair question. We don't know all the details, but we think HYDRA kidnapped you-". Steve's interrupted by Frost's snort.

"Yeah, no kidding. I was asking why you and your team shot our driver and pulled us off course. HYDRA's going to find us and they will kill us. And you.  Stars, they'll probably bomb the whole city."  Frost rants.  Steve sighs. 

"Settle down, tiger.  We removed your trackers.  Sure, there's a chance HYDRA will find us, but this tower has state of the art security and a team of highly skilled superheroes.  This isn't our first rodeo.  You're safe, kid."  The suit guy- Teddy, maybe?-says.

Safe. What a funny word.  It's unfathomable to think that maybe, just maybe, we could have found safety amid the chaos.

Frost's POV

Sparks this guy made me mad.

"First of all, I'm older than you.  Don't call me 'kid'.  Secondly, you need a haircut, Mr. Fancy Suit Rich Guy."  Mr.  Fancy Suit Rich Guy looks offended.  Good.

"Well, what should I call you?  I refuse to have a snow man join my team.  What did they call you before, um, the incident?"  Tony asks.  My brow furrows.  I don't know.  How can I not know my name?  I need to lie down. 

I head up to my room.  Winter- I mean, Bucky moved his bed in here.  He's sitting on it now.  He finally agreed to take off the handcuffs, but made Clint promise to knock him out with a tranquilizer dart at the first sign of trouble. 

Oh stars.  I mean, obviously he was stunning before, but he shaved and cut his hair and... he is divine.

I walk into the balcony and catch my breath.  The night sky is beautiful.  I stand for an eternity, breathing in the stars.  Bucky appears next to me.  In the starlight, his eyes glitter. 

"So."  I say.

"So."  He responds.  Keep your eyes on the stars, Frost.  Keep your eyes on the stars and just keep breathing. 

"I don't know what's going to happen next.  It's a whirlwind world.  But, for what it's worth, I'm glad to be going through it with you.  Because when I'm with you I don't feel scared.  I'm not confused.  The world is crystal clear and I see it all in your eyes and-" 

My heart pours out of my mouth but it keeps pounding and then he's grabbing my neck and I'm leaning back and suddenly we're kissing.

I am not a girl of ice and glass at all, but a girl of sunshine and starlight.
