My Step Sister

Chapter Eleven

When the morning time rolled around Katherine was already up cooking everyone breakfast. The girls were up thinking about what to do.

"Hey come and get ya bacon and cheese eggs!" the older woman yelled.

"I said come and get your food!"
When nobody came into the kitchen Katherine walked into the living room to see them all sitting in a circle.

"Hey, foods ready ladies, and Camila," said Katherine with a smile on her face.

"Not hungry," said Camila.
"No thanks babe," said Normani.
"I'm good sis," Lisa replied.
"Don't need food I need a pill," Zendaya said.
"Hey run that, I'm starved!" Lauren exclaimed climbing to her feet.

"Well at least somebody wants my food," said Katherine sadly.

When Lauren walked back into the living room with her food, she saw Lisa on the phone.

"Mom I'm at Kats house with the girls. What about your car? Uhm the police what? Mom look I can explain, it happened last night. Mom? Mom?" Lisa hung her phone up and jumped up.

"We need to leave, the police got my mom's car towed and they know where we were."

"And?" asked Camila.

"AND, we are wanted criminals! We need to get the hell outta here," said Zendaya climbing to her feet.

"How do they know? How do you know they know?" asked Katherine.

"I don't know but-"

Normani's phone rung and everybody looked at her.

"Normani, I went to Lisa's house last night and her parents said you were at some other girls house."

"Dad listen-"

"No you listen! You are going back to Texas with your grandmother and that's that! You and Zendaya need to find your way home right now!"

The line went dead and Normani shoved her phone back into her pocket.

"He said I have to go back to Texas and live with my grandma."

"What!" exclaimed Lauren, Zendaya, and Katherine.

"No, hell no!" yelled Katherine.

"Mani you can't leave, we have to change his mind," said Lisa.

"I would love to have you back in Texas with me but it's really clear that these girls love you. You have to stay here," said Lauren.

"I'll give you guys a ride back to your place. Sooner or later we gotta face the music. Can't hide forever," said Lisa.

"Fine. Lets go," said Normani standing up.

"What about me?" asked Camila.

"If we let her go she'll tell on us," said Lauren.

"No I won't. I swear I won't tell. I'll keep it to myself. Nobody has to know this ever happened," the smaller girl said.

"I don't trust her. Why don't you just take her with you Lauren?" asked Katherine.

"Because I have to leave today remember?"

"Oh shit, right."

"Look if we let you go, you can't say anything," said Zendaya.

"I won't! But you have to promise not to rob houses anymore," said Camila.

"Why would we do that?" asked Zendaya.

"Because if I say anything all of you can go to jail, including you Katherine. Ya know for harbouring fugitives."

Katherine growled at the shorter girl and Lisa told her to calm down.

"And on top of that, nothing is stopping any of you from killing me and hiding my body somewhere it won't be found so I'm just gonna keep this to myself and pretend it never happened. Can we go now?"

"Yeah lets go," said Lisa. She hugged her older sister and walked out of the door.

Zendaya, Lauren, and Camila followed.

As Normani was leaving Katherine grabbed her arm.

"What Kat?"
"I might not see you again you know?"
"Yeah, but I think you will."
"Can I have a hug?"
"Yeah come here."

Normani pulled the taller woman into a hug. She pulled away but Katherine leaned in again and kissed her cheek. Normani smiled and walked out of the house to see that everyone had already gotten into the car. She hopped into the backseat and slammed the car door shut.

"Well, here goes nothing," said Zendaya with sadness laced in her voice.

Lisa pulled up in front of Normani and Zendaya's house and cut the engine.

"We'll sit here and wait, just in case," said Lisa. Zendaya and Normani nodded. They got out of the car and walked up to the door. Mrs. Coleman swung the door open before either of the girls could even touch the doorknob.

"Get in this house," she spat out.

"Sit down. We need to talk."

Both of the girls sat down on the couch. Mr. Hamilton walked down the stairs and stood next to Mrs. Coleman.

"I decided that it's about time you go back to Texas Normani," said her father calmly.

"No! I'm not going back to Texas. I wanna stay here with Z and Lisa."

"Its not your choice anymore Normani! Zendaya and Lisa are obviously bad influences on you!"

"Mom you're just gonna stand there and let him say that about me!?" yelled Zendaya.

"Its true Daya. She wasn't acting that way before she got comfortable with you."

"This is bullshit!" yelled Lisa opening the door.

"Yeah she shouldn't have to go back!" said Lauren coming into the house behind Lisa.

"No it's okay you guys don't get into this!" said Zendaya.

"She's right, you have nothing to do with any of this! Now Normani I tried to be lenient with you but you and Zendaya are getting into too much trouble! And did you know that Lisa's mom told us about you almost getting into trouble with the law? Whats going to happen if you stay around her!?"

"Nothing! She's my step sister and I love her. Its too late to make me go back now," said Normani grabbing Zendaya's hand. Lisa and Lauren walked over to the couch and sat down with her.

"I have a plane to get on at three but I'm not going," said Lauren.

"And I'm not leaving unless you say you won't take Mani away from us," said Lisa.

Mr. Hamilton chuckled.

"You think this is a game Mani? You, Zendaya, and y'all little crew almost got arrested and I don't know what else happened, and you think that it's a good idea to stay around Zendaya? No. You're going back to Houston, and that's that," her father said walking away.

"Dad, no! I can't go back there! Its so boring and the only friend I have there is Lauren. I can't go back there!"

"Honey, give her one more chance," says Mrs. Coleman earning a bunch of gasps and stares from the girls.

"I-,"
"No, just give them one more chance, okay?" She said sternly.

"Are you serious!? Thank you I swear we won't get into any trouble!" yelled Normani in excitment. She hugged Zendaya and Lauren and Lisa jumped in.

"Okay look we are gonna set some ground rules now. You two can't go anywhere for a month. Your friends have to come here, You can't go to their house. And double chores for the month," said Mrs. Coleman.

"Okay mom!" said Zendaya.

"Okay but when I said double chores for the month, I meant starting now."
