Ara turned her speakerphone to take a call while on her drive home, “Hello?”

I’m going to the store.” Even through the phone, she could tell it was her roommate,

“Alright. You’re telling me this because?” Ara could hear some grumbling on the other line, “and why are you whispering?”

“Because I slipped out of the house unnoticed, leaving Niall and one of his posse there.”

“You didn’t offer them tea, did you.” Shaking her head exasperated, it was more a statement than a question. Ara huffed, “God Paige, tea is the way to know everyone. Yeesh. Then they wouldn’t be strangers anymore…”

“Ara, remember whenever I try to make you tea? It literally tastes like dirt water - or soggy leaves if we’re lucky.” Paige paused and made a contemplative noise “maybe if I made them tea then they’d never come back…” pretending to consider it, Ara tapped her nose grinning.

“Right,” snickering, Ara gave her a hug, “head off then, I’ll get them out. Did you let them in, or -?”

If Niall used that spare key, I swear Ara, you need to get rid of that -” Paige sighed shaking her head. “You remember last time don’t you?

“Niall James Horan! You know there is someone else living here, who isn’t used to you and your friends randomly bursting into their life y’know!” Paige huffed behind the kitchen counter, presently half-dressed for church, the missing parts of her outfit hanging over the dining room chair.

Ara screeched from her room, “Forget her, what about me, ick! Niall get lost! It’s not even nine a.m. on a Sunday!” Laughing loudly, Niall had barely gotten out an apology before Paige was crossing her arms,

“E-mer-gen-cies. Say it with me now, E-mer-gen-cies! Is someone on fire? Bleeding?”

Zayn peeked from the living room, “I have a papercut.” Again, from down the hallway, Ara screamed profanities that someone else was in her home.

“Shut up Zayn.”

“You said-”

“Is someone detrimentally bleeding? Dieing maybe? No? Then no, key. No Emergency, no key.” Paige continued as Ara’s door slammed, her muffled voice chanting, ‘E-mer-gen-cies!’

“Paige, are you not wearin-” Zayn was pointing at a piece of clothing hanging on the back of one of the dining room chairs, a smirk slowly growing on his lips.

“Niall, if you ever want me to feed you ever, ever again, make sure he doesn’t finish that question, pass me that skirt, and never speak of this again.”

--

Ara shook her head, “Alright, I’ll take care of it.”

You need to move that thing Ara.” Paige grumbled. “Anything you want while I am getting groceries?” Ara gave her a small request of junk food saying, “Alright, I’ll see you when you get home.” before hanging up.
