Editing is a time where you go back and fix your grammar mistakes or fix gaps of the story. Fill in for what you've missed. That means reading your story, finding what you like and don't. Pick the parts that aren't necessary. You may even have to edit it several times.
There's also the option of having someone edit your story for you. Because if you're like me, I know I can't read my own story and not have a biased opinion or not get bored. I just can't, I have tried it just never works for me. There are people out there who are here just to edit because they're not the best at writing. And there's nothing wrong with that. They're here to help and so am I.
