The bell starts to ring meaning it's already time. I got up my seat as quickly as possible and I ran towards the bulletin board. I felt my heart pounding very fast. Hinanap ko yung list ng top this trimester. Why would I be so interested? Well, I'm Cassie Francisco, 16 years old, 4th Year Highschool student and I'm running for valedictorian. But unfortunately I'm not the only one interested in that position.

Naramdaman ko na may tumabi sakin and I immediately knew who he was.

"Wow. Looks like I beat you again Francisco. Huh, it seems that we have a new top 1. Better luck next time Francisco" looked at me with those blue eyes in victory. The nerve! Wait.. New top 1?

I looked up to find my name in the list...wait it can't be. No no no!

Sh*t this can't be happening! Kol beat me! He's in my place, that should be me. No! Hindi pwede mangyari ito.

"Awww, Cassie you look like a lost little puppy. Hahaha, guess I'm in the top now" he gave me his signature devilish smirk. Ugh! This guy is so getting in my nerves!

"I swear to my life I will beat you Kol. I'll be the valedictorian. Humanda ka!"

"Hahaha I'm soooo scared Francisco! Hahaha" he said in sarcasm and he left.

This is my nightmare. I can't be beaten by Kol Michaelson! It just can't happen! Kailangan ko maging valedictorian because I need to have a scholarship for college. Yes, we're not very poor but we are not living lavishly either. Average lang kami. I'm somehow freaking out kasi may chance na si Kol ang maging valedictorian. Nung first trimester ako yung top 1 and then nung 2nd which is today, si Kol! I need to be the top 1 this 3rd trimester. I don't know what to do. And plus Kol has extra curricular activities! He's the captain of the freaking football team! And me?! I'm not even sporty at all!

I called my bestfriend, Mich because I needed someone to talk to.

"BES! SI KOL ANG TOP 1! UGHHH!!! TAS INAASAR PA AKO! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! BES I THINK HE'S GOING TO BEAT ME THIS TIME!" This is what bestfriends are for. When I need to rant Mich is always here.

"Woah! Bes please take a chill pill. Kaya mo yan ano ba ikaw pa, you're Cassie freaking Francisco!"

"Awww thank you so much bes! I love you so much! See you nalang later? May handa mamaya sa bahay, birthday diba ni kuya, siyempre invited bestfriend ko" Paalala ko sa aking magaling na bestfriend. Minsan kasi... I mean madalas kasi makakalimutin yan sa mga bagay bagay.

"Yes bes! Ako pa basta libreng pagkain palagi akong nandyan."

"Hahaha baliw ka talaga bes. Sige na bye na pupuntahan ko pa si tita dito."

I ended the call and I immediately went straight to the principal's office. When I got there, a lovely lady approached me.

"Hi Ms. Tina! Is she available?" I asked the principal's secretary.

"Yes of course Ms. Francisco. I'll inform her that you're here" Ms. Tina knocked at the principal office's door.

"Ms. Brinston, Cassie is here"

"Okay I'll be right there! Thank you Tina!" She shouted.

I put on my earphones and played my favorite tunes. Hindi ko parin matanggal sa isip ko yung mga nangyari kanina. I just can't accept defeat. No, scratch that, I will not be defeated by that evil Kol Michaelson. Ugh! Humanda talaga siya, mas mataas ako sakanya. I will do everything, anything, I won't give up.
