Chapter: 5

Beast three: Seiryu

We once again ran up a staircase.

"What?! You're kidding me!" Yusuke said. We'd approached 15 doors.

"It's appears we have found a maze in Maze Castle." Hiei said.

"Well, I guess that makes sense." Yusuke said.

"We must beware. It's something of a legend." Kurama said. "In the beginning, before the barrier wall was erected around the city, hundreds of bounty hunters came in search of the beasts. None succeeded. But the beasts never left their tower, letting anyone who made it into the castle forfeit their lives to this maze.

There are fifteen doors. All but one leads to a dead end. There are no second attempts. Unavoidable traps line the incorrect passageways. So you see... A poor choice seals our fate." Kurama said.

"Okay Yuka. Which one is it?" Yusuke asked. I shrugged.

"How am I supposed to know... I haven't been here in years." I said.

Yusuke sweatdropped. "Well Mr. Sensitive, this one's all yours." Yusuke said.

Kuwabara looked at all the doors. "The second door on the left." Kuwabara said.

"You heard the man! Let's go!" Yusuke said.

"How do we know he's not making a mistake?" Hiei said.

"Yeah. I agree with short stuff over here." I said.

"I'm sorry shorty and Yuka, maybe it's not your thing but you two are gonna have to trust me on this one. I know, there's somethin' big behind that door. Somethin' scary." Kuwabara said opening the door. He looked down to see a mouse. "I hate mice!" Kuwabara said walking backward and falling back.

"Gee Kuwabara, and that speech of yours was getting so dramatic!" Yusuke said.

We made our way to a door. "Are we supposed to be scared?" Hiei said.

"Perhaps, this is the mark of the Blue Dragon." Kurama said.

"Yes. This is Seiryu's layer." I said. The door opened and Yusuke walked in and we followed. The door closed behind us.

"This fog's alive." Kurama said.

"Must be a form of Spirit Energy, coming from our beast's body." Hiei said.

"You have done very well to come this far. But I shall no longer allow you to disgrace my master." Seiryu said.

"Where's that voice coming from?" Kuwabara said looking around.

"I don't know- Come out now Dragon! This whole hide-and-seek thing's getting pretty lame!" Yusuke said. Then it started to flash around us.

'Yusuke you idiot...' I thought. Seiryu appeared in front of us.

"As you request." Seiryu said.

"A giant!" Kuwabara said.

"You may call me Seiryu. I am here now to end your lives intruders and Yuka." Seiryu said and then laughed.

"Well, he's no dragon. But he is ugly." Yusuke said.

"It is not wise to say such things to your executioner. It appears we have another guest." Seiryu said.

"He's not dead..." I muttered and looked at the door behind us. "Byakko you stubborn tiger..." I muttered.

"Guys I'm uh, not sure how to tell you this, but..." Kuwabara said.
