"All of nature begins to whisper its secrets to us through its sounds. Sounds that were previously incomprehensible to our soul now become the meaningful language of nature. "-Rudolf Steiner
As dreamland slowly crept through my mind I felt a soft tug on my shoes, then the static against my leg from my white stockings being pulled down and off. Before I could even open my eyes to see who it was a soft voice broke through the quietness of the dark room. “Miss Cecilia....Please try to corporate, you know sleeping in your cloths is bad and it messes them up," Damon’s voice echoed in my ear as I grunt and tried pushing him away. With a soft chuckle his large hands wrapped around my torso and sat me up. With one quick pull he had lifted off the dress and put on a long white cotton night gown. "Why can't you just let me sleep in peace...?” I mumbled in a sleepy haze as I struggled to stay sitting up while he took the pins and ribbons out of my hair.
Finally, he laid me back down covering me with the large hand stitched quilt. Closing my eyes once again I could hear him moving around, his shoes tapping gently on the carpet covered wood floors and his hands moving the metal hangers on the racks. I wanted so bad to fall asleep, but when I felt the eyes of something unwanted I slowly forced my lids open.
“Damon…Don’t stare at me like that…” I commanded with a yawn.
“The times getting closer…you are aware of this right?” he asked, the tone of his voice frightening me.
“I’m aware… Soon you will have my heart and soul and I shall cease to exist…” I mumbled nonchalantly as I sat up looking out the window. Suddenly the aura in the room changed. If went from smooth and relaxing to a tense, stiff air. I could tell he was pissed with out even looking at him. “Do you not treasure your life in the slightest? You just plan to sit there and act like it’s nothing!” his voice rose in anger with everyone word he forced out. In shock we both stared at each other. “Damon...” I whispered somewhat happy that he had gotten angry, “I’m exhausted from today’s events…” Nodding the butler walked towards the bed and sat on the edge pulling the covers back over my shoulders as I laid down. Closing my eyes and relaxing back into the feather stuffed pillow, I slowly drifted off.
With a soft sigh I stared up at the full moon, amazed at how lager it was. “It looks so close…Like you could touch it right Damon?” Smiling I looked behind me, only to find out I was talking to thin air. “Damon.. Damon where are you?” I asked as I looked around. “Damon what are you doing down there?” I asked as I made my way from the balcony, down the stairs, and into the tree shaded backyard. “Cecilia…” he whispered as I approached his out reached hand cupping my cheek. “Have you seen the moon? It’s so big tonight,” I smiled happily, but when he didn’t reply I grew worried. “Damon….what’s wrong? Are you okay?” By the time I finished my question the form that once stood before me was not Damon. It wasn’t even human. In front of me stood a massive, black furred, wolf with its fangs were extended and its eyes full of evil. “Damon…Damon…DAMON!” I screamed louder and louder but when my trusted friend didn’t come running I froze. “It’s time…” the wolf spoke and lunged forwards, jaws opened and claws extended.
With a scream I sat up quickly only to find myself safe and sound in the comfort of my bed. “A dream…. It was just a dream…” I tried to say to myself as my chest rose and fell with my heavy breathing. Quickly the door swung up and slammed into the wall, Damon’s worried face looking me over.
“I’m fine Damon…just a dream...” I mumbled as I looked away, unable to tell this lie to his face.
“It wasn’t just a dream was it?” he asked as he walked from the door to the window and looked down at the gardeners. I hated that about him sometimes. The fact he knew when something was wrong or when I lied. “I rather not talk about it. That’s the end of this conversation. Now what’s my schedule look like today?” I asked as I pushed down the covered and swung my feet over the side. I could tell he was about to asked about the dream, by the way he opened his mouth then closed it. Watching his eyes I could tell he was mulling it over, but thankfully when he spoke it wasn’t about my nightmare. “Today we must go into town and get a dress for the up coming royal ball,” he said with a sigh.
