Guilty Alice: Finding Love In Wonderland

Chapter 10

"Hey, Joker..." I speak up once we're far away from the talking flowers. "Thanks for catching me when I tripped," I blush. "I wasn't trying to. Reflexes just kicked in," he replies offhandedly.

"I told you to just let them talk. Why'd you even talked to them, Mattie? You should've known they'd just give you more hell if you kept talking," Joker proclaims sternly. I could sense the pain in his voice. "I couldn't help it," I answer honestly, looking down. "I've only known you for a day, but I hated hearing them talk bad about you.

Joker goes quiet. He has a look of mixed emotions on his face.

"My life is none of your business," Joker scolded. "But-"

"Shut up, Alice!" Joker yells.

That hurt.

He just called my Alice....'Outsider'.

I come to a stop, unable to hide my shock. I don't believe this. He's never called me Alice before.

Joker walks off, without looking back. I can't seem to bring myself to call out for him to stop. I just watch him go until he's fully out of sight.

What should I do?

I kept standing in the same place. I can't stand to leave. The name 'Alice' made me feel a piercing pain in my heart.

What do I do now?

Where do I go now?

I don't know anything anymore.

"You okay, Mattie?" Mad suddenly appears beside me. "Oh, Mad..." I say on the verge of tears. I notice Mad standing there, studying me in concern. "You don't look like the normal Mattie I see. You look sad. You should come to my tea party. That'll definitely cheer you up!" Mad says joyfully. "Thanks, Mad. I'd love to," I say.

His warm invitation and smile make me feel at ease. "This way, come along!" He takes my hand and starts to lead me off, but my vision suddenly goes distorted. I become dizzy and start to wobble in place.

"What is happening?" I ask myself.

I can't even open my eyes. I hear a chipper voice though, "Whoopsie, times up! See you soon my dear, Mattie!"

Time's up?

Mad's voice sounds
high-pitched and distorted, like bad audio feedback.

"We can pick this up in your world, okay?" Mad asks cheerfully.

I can't answer. Instead, I black out.

As I do, I take small consolation in the fact that I'm going back to my regular home to my regular bed.

And so ends my first day in Wonderland.

This chapter was really short, but the next one will be way longer than any other chapters I've published so far. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Poor Mattie. I promise things will get better between her and Joker. Or will they? You'll have to find out soon!
