"BAILEY! BAAAAAAIIILLLEEEYYY!!!"

A loud voice screeches from outside my bedroom.

"WHAT!"  I throw back.

"GET UP!"  My little brother yells.

"OK! OK! QUIT YELLING ALREADY!"

"FINE!"  He says.  Listening to his heavy footsteps on the stairs, I release a string of curses directed at him that were so colourful they would make a sailor blush.

I continue to grumble as I reluctantly get ready for school. I hate school. It's so boring and they're so ridiculously strict!

Inhaling my breakfast I jump into the front seat before Jimmy can and wait for my mum. I try not to talk to her since I was still kinda pissed after our...debate last night. We both have bad tempers so it's not unusual for us to butt heads. My dad has a temper too but since I'm exactly like him, we get along pretty well. I'm usually good at handling the parentals, but in these situations it's better to just keep my mouth shut.

Desperate to get out of the stifling car, I throw a hasty goodbye to my mum as I dash away from the car.

"Shit!" I hiss as I feel my long black curls snag on my bag's zipper. "ARGH! Not again. Fuck"

"Need some help?" I hear a voice chuckle from behind me.

"Oh my God Billy! Perfect timing! My hair got stuck on the zipper again."

Billy laughs as she deftly separates me hair from the bag.

"Thanks you're the best," I breathe in relief.

"Yeah I know."

"Cocky much?"

"You know me so well!"

"Bitch."

"Whore."

We look at each other and burst out laughing as we rush to get our books and head to our first period. Maths. Ugh! I swear, whoever came up with maths so deserves to die. Not that that's even possible since they probably died ages ago. I wonder if-

"Hey! Earth to Bailey! Earth to Bailey!" Billy says waving her hand in front of my face.

"Quit it," I say slapping her hand away.

She doesn't reply as she walks into class grinning like a Chesire cat.

"Billy and Bailey would you please take your seats? We are about to start class."

"Sir, she's Bailey. I'm Billy." I say with a grin matching the one on my best friend's face.

Yeah I just couldn't resist. The teachers are just too easy to trick. Honestly I don't know how people get us mixed up.  Our names aren't even that similar and we don't even look the same.  We both have the same dark hair, eyes and skin, but I'm taller and more muscular. Billy is shorter and skinnier. Also, I'm loud and bossy, especially around guys. As a rule I hate the male species. They piss me off. I never hesitate to put them in their place. My friends and I are always quick to put an end to any funny business in our school.

Near the end of our next class, our English teacher Mr. Henderson asks me to read. Finding the passage I start reading aloud. That's when Kyle, the boy next to me, begins doing what he does best. Pissing me off. By the time class finishes I'm seeing red. I've had it with this dipshit, he's had enough warnings. As soon as class is over I pack up and wait for Kyle outside the door.

"Kyle," I say with deadly calm. "Come here."

Confused, Kyle looks around before walking over to me and Billy. He's one of the new kids this term so we've taken it easy on him as per our rules. Whenever a new kid comes to school, we give them two weeks. If they turn out to be a decent human being we leave them alone. If not, we make sure they learn how to become one. Unfortunately for Kyle, he was one of the stupid ones who needed to be taught the hard way. Handing my books to Billy, I step up to Kyle and land a punch square on his jaw.

"What the fuck!" Kyle blurts out reeling back in shock. "You punch like a fucking guy!"

"Yeah? Well remember that the next time you start thinking about pissing me off. I warned you plenty of times. And remember, you tell anyone about this and you will get much worse than that." I threaten as I take my books back from Billy and walk towards my locker. Billy's used to this. She's known me for years and knows not to get on my bad side. She is honestly the best friend ever. She's one of the few people I actually trust.

Singing softly to myself, I go to my next class where I plop down next to my good friend Dani. Giving her a nod, I open my books so we can exchange homework. Unlike my other classes today, Legal is a single period so it's over soon. Swapping our books for food, Dani and I make our way to the spot where we meet the rest of the gang for lunch.

Our group of friends is made up of those who don't fit in anywhere. We're called The Misfits. Nice name huh? Came up with it ourselves. Somehow we manage to fit in with each other. It's weird and confusing, but it works for us. We're a family and I would do anything to protect them and keep them happy. Looking around the table I watch as my friends shout and laugh at each other. We're easily the loudest, craziest bunch in school. We are also the group that everyone knows not to mess with. They know to never get on our bad side because the end result is not pretty.

By the end of the day I'm tired, hungry and sick of my stupid uniform, so as soon as I get home I ditch the uniform and start raiding the kitchen. With my hands full of food, I jump on the couch and start reading City of Lost Souls on my iPad. I love reading. I'm a bookworm. Sometimes.

It was the same everyday. Wake up. Eat. Go to school. Go to class. Hang with friends. Give out a few knuckle sandwiches to some smart arse who forgets that it's The Misfits' school. Go home. Eat again. Read. Homework. Dinner. More homework. Talk to friends. Go to bed. And the cycle starts all over again. But what I didn't realise was, today would be the last normal day of my life.
