The next day I wagged school. I just couldn't handle the thought of seeing Crystal or Gina around the place. I think my school must've known I had a good reason because no one rang my mum to ask why I wasn't in school. Which is weird...but hey, gotta take whatever good luck comes your way! I mean if mum knew I was at the library watching Netflix instead of being at school, she would skin me alive!
There's some really good books here too! Just finished re-reading City of Heavenly Fire. Again. I should really read some other books for a change.
On Saturday I went to the library again. I can't remember the last time I felt so shitty. And disgusted. Not just with the kids at my school. I was disgusted at myself.
In primary school I was bullied by this girl named Tammy. But in my case I didn't have anyone to stand up for me so I had to grow a pair and fight back. Unfortunately not everyone can do that, which is why we Misfits took on the responsibility of fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. But right now...
Right now I can't help feel that I'm being selfish by letting good people like Crystal suffer just so I can make it in the big leagues.
By the time my friends found me I had resolved to make sure that we met the deadline. I wasn't taking any excuses. We were going to prove ourselves to the Parkers. There was no other option. There was no way I was going to live with the knowledge that I had put my school at risk for nothing.
That was when I had a brilliant idea.

"Guys," I said. "I have an idea."
I decided to let the suspense build a bit ('cause why not?) and looked at each of the five faces looking at me expectantly.
"We should train up junior Misfits."
Seeing the surprise on Billy's face I continued.
"We aren't going to be at school forever. When we graduate in a couple years, we will be leaving the school to fend for itself again like we did this past week. And I mean...you can see how that's working out. What we need to do is set up a system so that when we leave, we won't be leaving the school unprotected. Instead it will have the next generation of Misfits to keep the peace and make sure the school isn't overrun by dipshits."
I watched my friends, waiting for someone to say something.
Finally, Skye spoke up.
"So you want us to kind of...take on apprentices?"
"Yeah I guess you could say that."
"Well!" Sam declared, "I think it's a bloody brilliant idea!"
"Yeah I agree. Yesterday I saw an eighth grader get ice water poured on his head. If we do this it would mean, A) teaching kids like him to stand up for themselves, and B) making sure the bullies are never in a position of power," said Jayden.
"So we all agree?" I ask.
"Yeah!" "Definitely." "Of course!" "Yep!" "Duh!"
That last one came from Sam. Obviously.
"'Kay, well I came up with the idea...anyone know how we can make it happen?" I said.
Silence reigned as we all scratched our brains until Billy finally suggested, " How about we make a list of potential candidates and then we can like, approach them with the idea and see if they are willing to do it."
"Aaaaaand this is why you're the top student in like, everything," Dani replied.
"Ok well I'm gonna get the ball rolling and suggest Mandy Collins. She's helped us before when we needed it. I reckon she would totally be up for it," I said.
"What about Brady Williams?" Jayden added.
"Oh and Carla and Peter Richards!" Skye exclaimed.
"Woah somebody write these down or we'll never remember all these names!" I yelled as names kept rolling in.

By the end of the day we had narrowed it down to about 10 people who had the potential to become Misfits. Billy in her geniusness, (Yes I made up a word. Get over it) came up with the idea that we should also draw up a contract for all future members to make sure they stick to the original purpose of The Misfits. The last thing we wanted was for them to become corrupt and misuse their power.
Before we went home we jotted down a few ideas for the contract and I allocated different parts of the school to each team for Monday. Sunday afternoon we would just spend taking down all the cyber bullies. It would mainly by Billy and Skye but the rest of us will help where we can.
On Monday we would start with the worst of the worst. The jocks. And the plastics. The two most powerful groups after us. Me, Sam and Jayden are going to head down to the footy oval in the morning where they hang out so we can straighten them out while Billy, Skye and Dani take care of the plastics. From there we would split into pairs and work our way through the rest of the school until order was restored.
During dinner that night Dad asked me how school was. I felt kinda bad lying to him but I just couldn't tell him how horrible it had been. But then he asked me a question that threw me off.
"So Bailey, I met a very nice young man named Jackson Parker today. How come you never told me you had a friend named Jackson?"
"What???" I choked as I tried to swallow my soup without making a mess.
"He told you we were friends? What a liar! I met him when school started but I've barely spoken to him since. I'm going to have to have a little chat with that boy tomorrow..."
"Now Bailey, what have we told you about violence?" My mum said giving me the dreaded "Mum Look".
Unfortunately for her The Look doesn't work on me anymore, so I just grinned at Dad and said, "Ma don't worry, "chat" is just means threatening him. "Discussion" is hitting!"
Dad burst out laughing at my reference to The Fonz from Happy Days.
Mum on the other hand just looked at me in resignation. You know that "What am I going to do with you?" look.
Looking to my brother I was disappointed to find that he hadn't even heard my awesome reference so I did the only logical thing.
I slapped him upside the head.
"Ow! What the heck???" He yelled, glaring at me.
"You didn't hear my Fonzi reference 'cause you had your stupid earphones in!" I said.
This caused my mum to start scolding him for wearing his earphones during dinner. I started to laugh until I remembered something. I hadn't seen any of the Parkers all week.
