"So, now what?" Greg asked, rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand.

"Do you think that you should be asking me that?" Ava asked. He rolled his eyes.

"Look. I don't need your attitude. So, stop, please." She frowned and pushed her back into the couch.

"We have to find somewhere to put the body." Greg stood up and walked over to the window, closing the blinds.

"Why don't you just go to the police? Then you don't have to do all of this." She asked, gesturing to the body.

"Because they will think that I did it." Well, you did. His subconscious said. "On purpose." Greg added, realizing that what he said didn't sound too smart.

"Even if I do tell them, I'll still be in there for a long, long time." He said, walking into the kitchen, leaning against the island. Ava followed him. Mirroring his actions.

"Why? Did you kill someone else? What are you hiding?" Greg stared at her, then shook his head.

"Because they're looking for someone who came up missing." Ava shrugged.

"And what does that have to do with you?" She asked.

"They think that I have something to do with it." He replied.

"Do you?" She challenged him. Greg tilted his head to the side and crossed his arms.

"Do you think I do?" Greg asked Ava. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it. She hasn't seen to Greg in years. Four to be exact, except for this night. And she couldn't decide if she was happy or upset about it.

People did change, but she didn't  believe he was the same man she fell in love with 12 years ago.

"Honestly, I don't know." She crossed her arms. Greg looked at her shocked. After all they had?

"You don't know? How do you not know your own husband?!" He exclaimed.

"Don't say that. You are not my husband! And I don't know you anymore." She yelled at him. Greg's heart hurt when she said that.

"I am still your husband. You still know me. I'm still the same. You still wear your ring!" He reached for her hand, but she glared at him, halting his actions.

"You're still my husband, on paper. I sent you those divorce papers multiple times. You kept sending them back, not signed." She spoke. She ignored the comment about the ring.

"I did sign it." Ava raised an eyebrow at him. "The last time, I did. And I sent them back to you. I figured since you didn't speak me to again, you sent them on their way." Greg crossed his arms, thinking about how she probably ripped them up. Or hid them.

"Whatever." She looked away from him. Greg rolled his eyes, and sighed.

"Look, we shouldn't be arguing. Just please, help me move this, and you can rest. I promise. Please?" He asked Ava.

When Ava decided to come up here and visit Greg, it was strictly for her family. She had some things that needed to be done. And she felt like this would be a great way to get it done. To sit down and talk about it. Face to face.

She thought about turning around and going back home to her family, multiple times the drive up here. And now she's wishing she did.

But, Greg needs her. Even though she doesn't want to look at him as her lover, she can look at him as her best friend. And you never leave your best friend. It's the least Ava can owe Greg, he's been there for everything. No matter what.

Greg walked towards her and grabbed her chin, looking her in the eye. "Please?" He begged. She tried looking away, but he gripped her chin harder. Not enough to hurt her, but enough to come across as stern.

"Please. I need you to be here with me. Don't bail out me. Okay?" Being this close to him, was very breath taking. He still smelled the same, just with the faint smell of alcohol on his breath.

Ava nodded. "Okay."

Feeling brave, Greg leaned in to kiss her. He knew she might hit him, but it could be worth it.
Ava wanted it. So bad, but she couldn't be weak in front of him. Letting him made her weak. She couldn't, and she wouldn't. She turned her head before their lips met. Greg stepped back from her, rubbed the back of his neck and blushed.

"Right. Well let's go." Greg headed for the door. Ava scurried after him.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

He handed her his jacket to put on, and grabbed another from the chair.

"We have to get rid of this body. We can't leave it here." He said. Ava nodded. Right, she thought to herself.

"Yeah." Greg walked over the body and Ava followed. He went to one side and Ava went to the other.

"Pick your side up on 3, alright?" Greg said. Ava gave him a nod.

"One...two...three." They both picked it up, and carried it toward the door.

Bang, bang, bang.

"Open up, it's the police!" Greg and Ava looked at each in fear.

"Fuck." They both said.
