Ava gasped. "I thought he was dead!" Greg breathed a sigh of relief and his tense body relaxed.
Greg slowly reached for the doorknob, grabbed it and yanked the door open. A man tumbled out of the closet.
He stood up and Ava recognized the man as her ex, David Dosen.
David stood and turned to Greg, brushed his arms, and then punched Greg in the jaw. Greg stumbled backwards, regained his balance, then he punched David in the stomach.
"Oh my god." Ava covered her mouth with her hand, watching David and Greg go at it like kids over a toy.
Finally, Ava pulled the two men apart. "Greg, stop!" She pushed Greg into the wall.
"Stop." Greg was breathing heavily. He stared at Ava, half surprised at her actions.
"But Ava, he started-" David cut him off, standing up.
"Avaline?" Ava cringed at her maiden name. She turned and faced David.
He didn't really look any different than he did back in high school. He still had his warm hazel eyes, messy, strawberry - blonde hair, fit looking body. Just a taller and more muscular version. With a bloody nose and busted lip.
"Hello David." David just stared at Ava. Ava stared back at him. Seeing some of her old memories in his face. Greg looked between them, seeing David's love-struck face, and Ava's aggrieved one.
Getting frustrated, he cleared his throat loudly. "If you guys are done undressing each other with your eyes," David and Ava head's snapped over to Greg. He continued.
"Can we get to the important thing, David, why aren't you dead? " Everyone turned and looked at David.
He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, one hand at his nose that was still bleeding.
"Can you help me out with my nose first? Please?" He asked, but he was still staring at Ava.

"Okay, just sit down please. I'll be a second." Ava said, grabbing the first aid kit from the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
David sat on the toilet seat, and looked around the bathroom.
"So, how are you?" She asked him, pulling up a stool and sitting in front of him.
"I'm fine. How about yourself?" She shrugged and grabbed David's hand, wiping an alcohol pad over the cut on his knuckles.
"Ow sHit." He hissed, pulling his hand back. Ava grabbed it and returned it's place on her thigh.
"Okay. Tell me something." She said, glancing up at him. He raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Why aren't you dead? I could have sworn you were dead. What happened? Why are you here?" Ava fired at him.
David just stared at her, remembering what happened the night before. She snapped her fingers in front of his face.
"Today ? Please." He shook his head smiling, and sighed.
"Okay. I'll start from last night." Ava nodded.
"Okay. So we were at Evan's, the bar, and -" He started
"Who's we?" David gave her a gall look for interrupting him.
"Me, Greg, Ed, James and some other friends. Now as I was saying," He glanced to see if she was going to say anything else. Seeing that she wasn't going to talk again, he continued.
"We're just drinking, and Ed brought up that you guys were talking, and he said that you were pregnant with his kid. And that was why you left. And Greg flipped out, flipped some people and then left the bar." Ava nodded grimly, then snatched the Peroxide off the counter, angrily.
"Greg knows that's not true. Was he on something?" She stared at David, he avoided her gaze. He was looking everywhere, but at her. She noticed he was scratching his wrist, a sign that he was hiding something or he was lying.
"David," Ava said cautiously, "Does he still smoke?"
"No." He turned a bright pink.
"David. Tell me the truth."
When she the response was silent, Ava pressed on the cut on his knuckle. David yelped and cradled his hand to his chest.
"Okay. Okay. Damn, you're mean."
"David." She said sternly.
"Okay. Yes." Please don't let Greg find out, I'll die for real this time, he thought to himself.
"Yes he has been, but I think he was on something else that night." Ava pursed her lips, trying to hide her disappointment.
"What? Drugs?" She focused back on his hand.
"Excuse me?"
"Was he on drugs?"
"I don't k-"
"Oh please, cut the crap David." She cut him off. "You do know. What was it?" She scowled at him. David's eyes flickered to something behind her and then looked quickly back at her, panic in his features.
"I think you should ask him." He got up and walked toward the door.
"But I'm asking you. Get back here." She turned around and was met with Greg's angry face.
"What?" She asked.
"You know I don't do drugs."
"Since when?" She scoffed. Greg sighed and shook his head.
"Since you left. I stopped for you and my baby."
"Actually, she's my baby." Ava turned back around and put the first aid kit back together.
"But she is our baby. We made her together. You forget that?" He grabbed her arm and turned her to face him.
"You both are mine." He whispered in her ear.
"You should be lucky I'm even here with you still. All you have to do is sign those goddamn papers. Then I can go back to my daughter and my life." She poked his chest.
"Okay." Ava stared at him muddled.
"Okay what?" He lowered his face to hers and stared at her.
"I'll sign the papers. I'll sign them and then you can go back to your stupid life!" Greg yelled then walked out of the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.
Ava started at the door.
What just happened?

okay, I'm so sorry that this is going so slow. Being a student is really hard, and sometimes I don't have much time to write that much. But, with it being spring break the week after next, I should be able to get more chapters up.
Also, I wanted to thank the 38 followers I have and the ones who read my books. You don't have to follow or vote or comment. You do enough just by reading.
Really, thank you guys. You are so awesome.
