It was a crisp and chilly day; the air had a cold bite to it as dark clouds prowled on the skies above. She was walking down a pretty busy street, something she loved to do. Being surrounded by all these people made her feel safer, almost. She felt that all the bad things happened to people when they were alone with barely anyone around, so being surrounded by the masses of people made her feel more at ease, although it can do quite the opposite to most.

She shrugged her jacket from the ends of her shoulders closer to the base of her neck as a frigid breeze cut through the air.

She desperately wanted to get somewhere warmer fast.

She looked left and right at the various shops that lined the swarming streets when suddenly, her gaze lay on a cute little pastry shop with a large grand opening banner flapping out front. She smiled as she cut through the crowd and ran inside, a tinkling little bell announcing her arrival. She pulled her mittens off and stashed them in her purse before walking up to the front counter. Pastries of all shapes and sizes and flavors were on display in a small glass display case next to the register.

"Hello and welcome to Cafe Fleur. May I take your order?" A cashier spoke.

"Uhhh...." She looked through the display until a pastel colored cupcake popped out at her.

"I'll take that one." She pointed to the cupcake as the worker reached to grab it with gloved hands, placing it on the counter before her.

"That will be twenty dollars ma'am."

She was boggled. It was a lot for a tiny cupcake. She reached into her purse and pulled out a smaller coin purse and dug through it. All she could produce was a meager ten dollar bill. A long line was beginning to collect behind her as she scrambled for loose change. A hand fell onto her shoulder and her head flew around.

"I'm with her."
He said from behind her as he pointed up to a poster on the wall. It read:
Valentine's day special
Half off any cupcake for any couple.

But she didn't know who he was. Was he only doing this so that he could hurry up and get her out of the way so he could order sooner? She looked behind her, the other people in the line were tapping their feet impatiently.

He looked down at her. He was the opposite of him, the one that ruined her. He has blonde hair and he had brown hair. He has green eyes and he had blue ones.
As they looked at each other, she could almost feel her heart begin to mend.
