Chapter Two

Mom made me an egg and bacon breakfast sandwich. She always makes bacon, so she can take it and put it in her own sandwich. I love her, so I'm fine with it. I usually get a bag of carrots from Jayson at lunch to get the bacon flakes out of my mouth. He always brings carrots to lunch for me.

Walking to school is exhausting. I've asked my mom at the beginning of the year to ride the bus with Jayson, but she said the bus is too far. Luckily, I listened. The bus doesn't have Sophie, but her guard dogs are on it. John, Turner, Spencer, and Carlos. Thank goodness they are okay with Jayson, because he looks like them. I don't. At least not like Sophie. Jayson keeps on saying "You're beautiful, don't worry," but friends always say that. I guess I look like their group, but I would never fit in. Once I got to school, Jayson was waiting in his usual spot, next to the front doors.

"I need to talk to you." Jayson said.

"Okay? Is it something bad, because I just got in a good mood-"

"This is extremely important... But...  I guess we'll talk after school..."

"Oh, it's urgent? Go ahead, keep talking. My mood can wait."

He chuckled, then his face got pretty stern.

"I'm, I, I am..."

"You're? What?"

"I'm moving. Friday."

"What! Where to?"

"Far away."

"No, you're joking. Ha! Ha!"

"I'm serious Anna." I've never heard Jayson this upset.

"No... You've been my friend for ten years, we can't split up! How far are you moving!"

"My dad told me not to spill."

"Jayson. I'm your friend. Why are you moving so sudden?"

"Can you keep a secret?"

"What do you think?"

He put on a smirk, but it vanished in less than a second. He grabbed my arm and walked me into the building, with a quiet voice.

"Okay, I'll tell you at lunch, where nobody will listen."

"What! Don't make me wait!"

"You'll be fine."

I can't believe that Jayson would do that. If we're friends, best friends, then he shouldn't be keeping secrets. He knows that I secretly go to the store every night to buy candy for my sister, in exchange for a pumpkin cake. She doesn't know how I get stashes of candy, and I don't know how she gets a big pumpkin cake every night.

On the other hand, he has been keeping so many secrets, I'm kinda knowing less and less about him every day... I just want the day to go by quick so lunch can be here already.

"Good morning class. I hope you are all ready for today's science test. Tomorrow, we will start Chapter eight, and that test will be on November nineteenth. No cheating on your test or you will be reported to Mrs. Joan's office right away. You may begin your test after questions. So, any questions?" Mrs. Tana said, speaking very quick like she wanted class to be over too.

"Yes, Mrs. Tanya-" Spoke out, Turner.

"Mrs. Tana, no 'ya' in it."

"Oops, my bad. So, Mrs. Tana, do you have air spray for Mr. Stank over here?" The class starting laughing, and everyone agreed. Except me.

"I just came out of the gymnasium. Sweat was caused. Blame that. You know that my name is not Mr. Stank?" Said poor little Mr. Stank, Turner's words not mine.
