Extra; Kana's Flashback Part 2

Kana's POV

A few days later, he returned alone. My parents were fighting in the bar about where they would stay, and I was sitting out of the conversation. I couldn't be bothered with their fighting.

"What's going on?" Ace asked, gesturing to the arguing couple across the room.

"My parents. The idiots that fight over everything. When the dad's abusive and the mom's controlling, you know you're not living a normal life." I grumbled, trying not to remember my beatings.

"Really? I only ever knew my grandpa and two brothers. In fact, I haven't seen my younger brother in a while. I should go visit him." Ace spoke fondly of his family, I could tell he treasured them deeply.

"Brothers, huh? I have one. He's always out and about, though, and I haven't seen him in five years. His name's Lacrus. I'm pretty sure he's a marine, but it's been so long I don't even remember." The memories were hard to find, "All Lacrus wanted to do was run away from home. He seemed so protective of me until five years ago, when he left me alone with my parents. Only the Lord knows why he'd become such a jerk."

"My brother that's my age is gone now, but my younger brother is a pirate, out on a journey. I can't wait to see him again."

Ace seemed to want to delve into his past, so I suggested we go to my house, where we could talk in private. On the walk to my house, he mentioned something about me being one of his only friends that are girls in this town and this nation in general.

When we reached my house, we sat down at the table and began discussing our pasts. I was surprised to discover he's Gol D. Roger's son and how he ate the Flame Flame Fruit, but it didn't bother me too much. I never was one to judge people by what society says. He told me about how he wasn't related to his family that he mentioned earlier at the bar and how his brother died. The stories continued on and on until midnight, and we ended up falling asleep at the table.

I woke up to see him sleeping with drool coming out of his mouth. It was really cute, and I couldn't help the thought of drawing on his face.

Chuckling a little, I pulled out a marker and began to draw on his face. As I was etching a unibrow onto his face, I felt the urgent need to kiss his forehead. I refused the idea profusely and kept drawing in the unibrow. As I was finishing the last finishing touches, he began to wake up, and I had a very slow reaction as he pulled his face up.

Our lips met and my eyes were widened in surprise, and within moments, his were too. I smacked him across the face and backed away. How could I have gotten so close to him without knowing it?

"What-How..." I stuttered with surprise.

"That was..." He started, and I expected him to be disgusted, but he just plastered a smirk on his face, "Surprisingly good! When did you learn to kiss?"

His cheeks were now swollen and I pouted as I looked out the window at the 5 o'clock sunrise. He was giving me a puppy dog face and whined every moment I looked at him.

"Y'know... You're kinda cute when you're mad." Ace commented, earning another smack, but this time he stopped the incoming hand.

"Look, I'm being serious. I'm really lucky that I found you when I did, because I would never be able to find a girl like you again if I never came back." His words really touched my heart, "I've been thinking about you nonstop since our first encounter, and I've met many women, trust me, but you... You are the only woman for me."
