This is it. This is the day, I thought to myself. This day was going to have to be perfect. Everything had to be in its place and everything had to go as planned. Nothing could go wrong, and if something did, I was probably going to lose it. Today was the day that Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy was coming out to check out my band. My future rests on this one day. If it didn't go well, I could basically kiss my music career goodbye. It had to be perfect. We had to get signed by him.
"Where the hell is Tyler?" I asked my best friend, Anna, who was also our bassist.
"I'm sure he'll be here," Anna said as she placed a protective hand on my shoulder.
"We can't play without our drummer," I said as I slumped back in a chair.
"He'll be here, Al. There's nothing to worry about. He's your boyfriend for Christ's sake. He couldn't just leave you here," she said as she sat next to me.
"You're right," I said as I stood up and began pacing again.
"And even if he isn't on time, Pete isn't supposed to be here until three. It's only around one now," she said.
"I know, but we need to practice and make this perfect. Our whole future rests on this one performance," I said.
"Just calm down, Alyssa," she said.
I could tell she was getting annoyed with me, but I didn't care. I was so nervous about this. I had dreamed about getting signed so many times, and now that it could actually happen, I wanted everything to be perfect. About ten minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I ran to the door and opened it.
"Oh thank god," I said as I wrapped my arms around Tyler's neck and kissed him.
"I'm so sorry I'm late," he said as he hugged me and kissed me.
"You'd better be," I said as I glared at him.
"She's a little.... Crazy," Anna said.
"Can you blame me?" I asked as I shot a glare at her.
"Guess not," she said.
"Ok, lets go and practice," I said as I walked up the stairs.
Anna and Tyler followed after me and we walked into the music room. I had one made in my house because music had always been my passion since I was little. I always went in here to calm down, write new songs, or just play the array of instruments that I could.
"What songs are we playing?" Anna asked.
"I was thinking we should just stick to the covers we've been working on," I said.
"So Lets Kill Tonight and New Perspective?" Tyler asked as he sat down behind his drum set.
"Exactly," I said as I smiled.
"Awesome, then lets get to it," Anna said.
We had to have practiced each song at least ten times. Around 2:50, we walked downstairs to wait for Pete. I started pacing back and fourth again.
"You ok, Al?" Tyler asked.
"What if Pete thinks that we're just playing Panic! songs because we're desperate or something?" I asked.
"Baby, calm down. It doesn't matter what we play, we just have to be good," Tyler said as he walked over to me and hugged me.
"You're right," I said as I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled closer.
"Everything is going to turn out great, ok?" he said.
"Yeah," I said. "What would I do without you?"
