Chapter 2
When me and Karine got to our homeroom class, people started talking in hushed tones. But it didn't matter cause some were talking as if they thought I couldn't possibly hear them.
I heard one girl say, "Ugh! Just look at her."
Then another, "I know right. Bless her heart. What a pity."
Sigh. Why does time have to pick this moment to move so slow? I can't wait for this day to be over.
"Don't mind them Alice.", says Karine while rubbing my right shoulder. I smiled, grateful for the fact that my bestfriend would always be there for me and that I could count on her. I don't know what I'd do without her.
As we make our way to our seats at the left side corner, the voices become more clearer and Britney, speaking loudly as she can enough for the whole class to hear says, "Even the money she has can't help with they way she looks - utterly disgusting. She might as well look like a dog released from the pound." Turning in her seat as I walk past her, I didn't even have time to react with what she was about to do. She extended her right foot and I tripped on it.
Everybody bursted into laughter.
Britney is your typical barbie, except for the fact that she's a total bitch. She's head of the cheerleading squad. Which is probably why she is so pissed at me for taking the most popular guy in school and end up ruining the relationship after all. Or so the school thinks.
There's even this rumor being spread around during the first few weeks me and Drake became exclusive - that I was paying Drake to date me so I can get in the limelight. Oh, also that nerdy stalker of mine.
Like seriously, who in their right minds would pay someone to stalk yourself? Maybe Britney would.
"Did you hit your head or something?", Karine asked as she was helping me up. She probably meant that remark on the little chuckle I gave.
"Unfortunately not.", I told her. As I got up, I turned to face Britney glaring at her.
She has a little smirk plastered on her face, "Maybe next time you should watch where you're going."
I was just about to tell Britney to fucking grow a brain and then maybe the guys in our school would actually have a meaningful relationship with her than just meaningless sex. But Ms. Cooper decides to show up and tells us to settle down.
Instead of doing what she says, I continue to glare at Britney whose hands are now crossed in front of her, raising one of her golden eyebrows at me as if to mean, "Bring it on". If I didn't hear someone clear their throat, I would've probably slapped her not caring if I got detention.
I turned to see who it was and maybe give them a piece of my mind, but then it was Ms. Cooper after all with her hands on her hips and raising her eyebrow.
I've already got the whole school hating on me, why would I want to put my education in jeopardy?
So I went to sit on my chair with Karine already seated to my left. She whispered something I couldn't make out. I didn't bother asking her to say it again because I just remembered about my french homework. French is the next class after this. I'd be doomed if I didn't finish this like all the other assignments.
French is one of my weakest subjects. Next to gym class. I just wasn't good at sports. Which is why I venture out my time through arts. My english teacher, Ms. Applebum, says that I'm pretty good at essay writing. But why is it that I can't seem to do the same in a different language. I mean really, it's just a whole different spelling of words that entail the same meaning. Why does it have to be so complicated?
