Chapter 3
Days seem to pass by quickly. It's already been a week. Today's thursday. The gossip about me and Drake has died down a bit. Because now, gossip about me and William are being spread around school. And as usual, Britney is getting on my nerves. Like seriously, nothing is going on between William and I.
We just started becoming close because he really is good in French and I need serious help. It's funny how we have the same time for study period. Lucky for me. I don't know with him. I mean, he doesn't seem to mind using up his time to study for his next subjects to teach me.
"I told you a million times already, it's fine. English is a piece of cake.", he tells me once again after how many times I've asked him whether he needs to read up on some things. And this is coming from a guy of French origin.
He has Homeroom, Math, Music and Chemistry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. While I have Homeroom, French, Gym and Chemistry. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he has History, Gym, Study Period and English while I have Arts, English, Study Period and History. Oh and just so you don't get confused, the way I enumerated our classes are from first to last. So basically, I only have Homeroom, Chemistry and Study Period with him. Oh and lunch. Ha!
Before I could say anything else, the bell rings. And speaking of lunch, it's that time of day where once the cafeteria was just a place to eat but now, it's seems like a tag of war is going on everyday.
I grab my stuff and put them in my bag and turn to William to say thanks. Then I leave. I try and look for Karine in the crowd. But it just seems to get tighter in here each day. I wonder how they'll fit everyone in the gym for our spring formal. Which is a month away yet people are already going crazy about it. Talking about what dress they're going to where, whether or not they should ask the guys out because apparently none have made any move yet and an after party is being hosted by Britney.
Story is going around about how awesome the party is going to be. Invitations have gone out already. And I don't need to state the obvious already, now do I? I haven't gotten one. Not like I care. I don't even want to go to the stupid spring formal. Theme this year is Fairy Wonderland. How disgusting is that?
With all the thoughts going through my mind I hadn't noticed that I bumped into somebody and almost fell if not only for William catching me instantly. "Where did you come from?", I asked startled.
"I have been walking beside you since we left Study Period.", he says giving me this weird questionable look. "You must be thinking about something really serious for you to not have noticed."
"Nothing serious.", I say as I get out from his hold on me.
"Then you must have short attention span.", he jokes.
"More like selective attention."
He just looks at me raising his eyebrow.
"I just don't want to hear it. All the rumors and gossips going around school. They're just a bunch of BS."
We enter the cafeteria and then instantly all the girls are shooting daggers at me. I look around to see if Karine is to be found, but still no sight of her. Where could she be? I know what ya'll are probably wondering. Why not text or call her? See the school I'm in, doesn't allow cellphones. I know weird, right? They say it's to teach us disciplinary actions. It's their way of minimizing distraction during class hours. As if that helps. Now people just pass notes or whisper, even loud enough sometimes for the teacher to hear them. So much for less distractions.
So I grab my food and start heading towards our usual table. And as I sit down, I see William taking a seat across from me.
"No Britney today?", I joke. I ask this because William always gets dragged around by her during lunch time.
