Dawn watched as Thorn shook dirt off his pelt his brown eyes blinking. When he noticed she was staring he growled and she quickly looked away.

Thorn was one wolf Dawn believed should've been a omega, yet he wasn't. He was rude and growled a lot. He didn't talk much and hardly seemed to respect Mockingbird as all of the wolves of the pack should.

But she knew why he wasn't an omega. He was an extremely capable fighter so he always went on patrolling missions or guarded the cave. Dawn had never had a real conversation with him before, let alone had a whole mission with him, at least as far as she could remember.

Thorn walked over to stand at attention with Dawn and Cotton, as he walked his tail brushed Cotton's pelt, she growled and sneered her teeth at him, he then returned the gesture.

Thorn sat beside Dawn and looked at Mockingbird impatiently. "Cotton!" Mockingbird called "You go with Thorn to the east side, I will stay with Dawn here." Both Cotton and Thorn growled at each other. "STOP!" Mockingbird hollered at them. "This isn't the time, NOW GO!" Thorn and Cotton ran quickly over to their spot despite their discomfort.

Mockingbird padded up to Dawn and smiled, sitting down on the wet grass. "Hello there" She said with a soft sweetness in her voice. "How are you doing?" Dawn's ears were still pressed against her head from Thorn's attitude. She quickly flipped them up and looked at Mockingbird.

"I-I'm," She began a little intimidated in Mockingbird's presence. She took a deep breath. "I'm fine" she said. Mockingbird nodded and looked out to the forest.

At that moment, Dawn noticed something she hadn't before. As she sat their next to Dawn she realized that the Alpha much was smaller and thinner then she was. She was by no means weak, but she always looked so big, and intimidating when she was making announcements.

They sat there for moment then she asked "Dawn, can I invite you to something?" Dawn looked at her confused. "What do you mean?" Mockingbird continued to stare ahead. "Next sunrise the other packs of the forest want to speak." She finally turned towards Dawn. "I've heard that it was very important that I came, I don't know why but they wanted some wolves to come and escort me, but I only want to take a few, I don't want them to think we're looking for a fight or anything." She looked back to forest.

Dawn sat there for a moment trying to think of the right response."Um so" She took another deep breath. "You want me to be one of your escorts?" Dawn hoped she hadn't just assumed this, and was completely wrong, sounding desperate for this kind of opportunity. Mockingbird smiled a bit. "If you would like, yes." Dawn tried to contain her excitement. She loved getting to do important things, they were often very fun and she didn't want to pass this up.

"Yes, I will be your escort" She said fidgeting a little. Mockingbird's expression didn't change for a moment. Then she looked at Dawn and smiled. "Thank you, I know how much you love doing things like this and thought that it was only fair to ask."

Dawn was a little puzzled. "How did you know that?" She asked. "I mean I know you're our Alpha but we are very large pack, I mean even the standard pack of 7, I wouldn't expect that they knew little things like that about each other."

Mockingbird chuckled a little only making Dawn more confused. "I try to know all of you well," She said. "Almost everyone in the pack except for a few, are my kin, and I want to treat them as such." Dawn laughed a little embarrassed. "I never thought of it like that." Mockingbird nodded then sighed. "Most wolves don't."

She looked away from Dawn again then said "You've probably been wondering who will come with you and me, right?" Dawn looked surprised at the sudden question at first then answered. "Yeah, a little I guess." She then looked down at the ground shyly. Pawing at dirt. Mockingbird gave her smile then headed off towards Thorn and Cotton.
