James POV - 9 years later.

"James! James! Wake up! I am nine! Nine! Wake up please." came the screaming voice of Maddie. She looked so like the sister I once had. I missed Charlotte so much. I guess that Mum thought I couldn't remember her but I coul remember things about her that I doubted even Mum knew. Whenever I asked her about it she just said that I had Maddie now, her way of dealing with grief.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Maddie, Happy birthday to you!" Mum sang. She swung Maddie up and spinning her round. I hated the way that they just replaced Charlotte but nobody could deny that she was so sweet. Even the burly blokes at school said that she was cute.

The presents came after breakfast which consisted of pancakes and bacon which with a jolt remembered was Charlotte's favorite. I demolished about 5 pancakes and 10 pieces of bacon before retreating back to my room. I was taking the start of my A levels today and revision was at the moment a top priority. Mum constantly nags me about never having family time. I ignore her as I want to go to a good uni and get a degree as a doctor. Not sure which type yet but working on it. My books were littered across my desk and clothes were in piles all over the floor. I picked the closest pair of jeans and lobbed them into the wash basket that was overflowing. Screw this I muttered to myself as I shoved today's neccersary books into my bag and threw on my uniform.

"James, I got a new drawing pad and some really smart colouring pencils. I asked for some water colours as well but Mum gave me poster paints" said Maddie rolling her eyes at Mum stupidity at getting paints mixed up.

"Draw a picture of the garden. I have to go to school now. My exams start early and I have Chemistry. I want to do some revision" I finished as I ran down the stair two at a time with Maddie following me clutching the drawing pad.

"Bye Mum and Maddie, have a great day. Will be back before supper." I yelled as I threw open the door. The bus was rounding a corner and I waved my hand like a madman as it stopped in front of the stop. An ancient old lady got on and I reached the stop just as it rolled off.

"Come on!" I roared in frustration. It was another hour until the next bus came and my chemistry started in half. Just then a black mini came rolling round the corner and stopped right in front of me. The window rolled down and a face that I had not seen in years looked out.

"Dr Liv?" I asked her disbelievingly. I hadn't seen her since Charlotte died and only breifly. She wasn't the sort of person you could forget.

"Well, do you want a lift to school or not?" she asked.

"How do you know where I am going?" I asked sounding like an idiot.

"Well, the uniform, the bag and the hurried expression don't look like you are on the way to the mall." she added.

"Right. Why are you here?" I asked.

"Felt like coming this way for a change and well yeah." she trailed off. I got into the car and we drove off.

"Why are you really here?" I pressed her for information.

"I think I may be in a spot of trouble."
