Faith To Fall Back On

Inspired By: Fallout Tale Ep. 32

"P-please, no," Cywren whispered while tears silently fell like a river.

"I told you, I don't know the code," Cywren's dad pleaded to the Enclave.

"Cywren, just pull your gun out and we can stop them!" Vent said while she continued to glare at her dad.

At that second, the Colonel turned and faced a female doctor. He raised his pistol and fired, leaving the deceased female.

"Rethink anything yet?" The Colonel asked Cywren's dad.

"Alright! Alright! No need for anymore violence!" Cywren's dad yelled while tears leaked from Cywren's eyes.

"The code, James," The Colonel demanded.

"Of course, I'll input it," Her dad said while approaching the number pad.

Cywren watched as her dad messed with the panel for a bit, then as everyone else collapsed.

"Dad!" Cywren screamed as she watched her father fall and die of radiation poisoning.

"Cywren?" Timebomb whispered.

"He's dead, Timebomb! He's dead," She yelled, then backed down before she began sobbing.

She'd lived without a mom long enough, but now she has to put up with her dad being gone, too?

She felt a hand rest itself on her shoulder while her head was down and she continued sobbing.

"C'mon, Cywren. We need to go," Timebomb whispered to her in a smooth voice.

He felt awful. He really did. Seeing Cywren this way was basically his worst nightmare. It pained him to see her like this.

She's broken.

"O-okay," She said with a sniff.

She grabbed Timebomb's hand, which helped her stand up.

The group left after a long and dreary battle with some Ghouls and the Enclave. Once outside, it felt good to just breathe.

"Cywren, you need anything?" Copper asked, looking at the frail girl while she continued weeping.

"N-no, b-but thanks for asking," Cywren said with a weak smile.

Then the unexpected happened.

"Cywren, you're not okay," Timebomb said while engulfing her in a hug. She hugged him back, sobbing into his shoulder. 

"T-thank you, Timebomb," She whispered to him while she stopped the tears.

"You'll be okay," Timebomb answered, stroking her hair.

Little did Cywren know, that Timebomb made a promise to himself and all the other followers.

He was going to act like Cywren's dad. He felt worthy enough to pull it off.

He would protect her, no matter what sort of danger he would put himself into.

/ 3 Months Later \
(Timebomb is Unconscious)

"Timebomb?" Timebomb heard an unfamiliar voice asked.

"Uh, yeah?" Timebomb asked, seeing a hazy man figure standing in front of him.

"Thank you, for taking care of my baby girl," Then realization hit Timebomb like a brick wall.

"Y-you're Cywren's dad!" Timebomb yelled, while the older man chuckled.

"That would be me. Please, continue to watch after her," James said while Timebomb nodded.

"You didn't even need to ask," Timebomb said with a smile.

"Thank you," James said before fading back to a memory as Timebomb gained consciousness.

"Timebomb, you okay?" Cywren asked while injecting him with a Stimpack.

"Cywren, he still loves you," Timebomb said, which must have sounded insane.

"Who?" Cywren asked, listening intently.

"Your dad. He still cares, and he's still watching over you," He answered while a blank stare hit Cywren's face.

"How - how do you know that?" She asked, awestruck.

"He just told me," He answered.

"Man, you must've really been out of it," She whispered.

"That's besides the point. The point is - I've missed you," Timebomb said while Cywren blushed.

"Timebomb, I missed you, too," Cywren said with a warm smile.

To sum it all up, Timebomb watched over Cywren. She did, eventually, believe his story about meeting her dad.

They continued in adventure.

That is, until Cywren was kidnapped.

But that, my dear friends, is a story for another day.
