-February 17th-

(That's my birthday, so I made that Ava's birthday too)

Ava opened her eyes, she saw the beautiful sunlight coming in from her window. It was official. She was 16 today. She couldn't believe it.

There was a knock on her door, and her mom entered. " Happy birthday sweetheart!"

For once in her life, her mother looked clean. New clothes, warm smile, and that sparkle in her eyes that she used to have when Ava was a baby. It was Ava's special day and she didn't want to do anything that upset her daughter.

Ava sat up with a beautiful smile on her pale face. Today felt like a new beginning. It was her sweet 16! In the evening, her friends would all come over, and make this day even better. Her mom planned it all out for her.

She got up, went to her bathroom and brushed her teeth. There was a birthday dress waiting for her on the right hanger of her bathroom. It was a red ball printed dress with a white mini skirt on the bottom. Ava jumped up and giggled a little. Then surprisingly, she ran to her mom and squeezed her tightly.

Ava saw that tear drop on her mother's eyes and let go quickly.

After putting on her dress, she felt like a new person. She felt like a girl, who could fly, who could do anything, and most importantly she felt like a girl without any scars on her body.

As Ava, put on her new birthday dress, she daydreamed about what would happen. She felt like she was in a fairytale. Altough every normal teenage girl feels this way every regular day, it was different for her.

She almost forgot about her cuts, but when she undressed herself, she saw them. It made her feel worse.

It's okay Ava, today is a new beginning; she thought to herself.

She went downstairs and found her birthday present waiting for her on the brown table on the corner of their living room. It looked like a treasure box.

Her mom told her to open it and she did. Ava could not believe her eyes. She was always that fan that never owned anything, she was one of those fans that had terrible parents to begin with.

She was a directioner but she never owned One Direction items and now she did. Ava tried taking a deep breath but she choked on air. She loved her mom for this. That was a unique feeling for her.

Ava carried the brown infinity box in her hands and opened it. It had Up All Night, Take Me Home, and a card that states, she has already pre ordered Midnight Memories. This was impossible. She must be dreaming, but she wasn't.

She pinched herself, just to make sure but sure enough, it was real and not one of her fantasies.

At that moment all Ava wanted was to feel like this forever but that happy feeling didn't last too long. There was something missing; her dad. He wasn't here. He was back in the U.S.

Ava and her mom moved to Bradford, London, England two months ago when her mom divorced her father for no reason at all.

She was crazy; Ava thought.

She took a deep breath and prayed that this day would be a hopeful day for her.
