Ava kept looking at the clock waiting for 7pm to strike. She couldn't wait for her friends to get here. By friends she  meant her only friends; Lizzy, Darcy, and Pamela but for her, that was enough. Ava was actually pretty lucky to have friends because she is the shy girl in class that always sits in the back of the classroom and doesn't make eye contact with anyone.

Lizzy, Darcy, and Pamela are the nicest girls in the 11th grade. When they saw that Ava was lacking friends, they came and started talking to her and then their friendship began. Ava liked the girls very much. They were always cheering her up and including her in their activities.

They were her only friends. Even back in the U.S, Ava didn't have any friends and she felt much better here even though her father wasn't here. This was a better place to be because she had been bullied all her life and she feels so welcome here.

But that didn't matter to Ava, all she wanted was her dad.

- 30 minutes later-

Ava jumped up and ran to the door when she heard the doorbell. Lizzy, Blonde hair with blue highlights had her hair in a ponytail and looked like a ray of sunshine with her bright skin. Then there was Pamela with black hair, wearing a simple white dress with a very bright smile on her face. Darcy was a little quieter with long curly hair and her dark skin looked as if it had just been greased in oil because of how smooth her legs looked. Ava was always jealous of Darcy's beautiful skin.

Ava was thinking about how beautiful their dresses were and almost didn't hear the three girls wishing her a happy birthday.

The girls were all giggling and having fun. Ava's mom was getting the cake ready. When Ava's mom brought the cake out of the fridge, she has a tear on her eyes. She was thinking about the last time, she bought Ava a birthday cake. Three years ago on Ava's 13th birthday.

Mrs. Jones had a quick flashback.

-FLASHBACK-

" Good Morning Sweetheart. You're 13, can you believe it?

Mr. Mcleroy stepped into the room with a present in his hand.

" Oh our baby is 13!" Ava smiled and grabbed the present. She quickly ripped it apart.

Mr. and Mrs. Mcleroy(ofcourse Mrs. Jones now) exchanged a hug while Ava saw her gift.

Mrs. Jones remembered that smile on Ava's face when she saw the red dress. Red was Ava's favorite color. She loved the simple red dress with glitter all over it.

But now, all Ava cared for was music. . Before she used to be that stylish girl in school. The girl with short pink dresses with her skinny legs showing but now all Ava wore were jeans.

-Present Time-

" Cake time!" Yelled Ava's mother.

The four girls came running. When they caught a glimpse of the cake, all the girls were awestruck. Even Ava. It was a pink icecream cake with roses on the side and ofcourse on the second layer, there was a quitar to symbolize Ava.

When Ava was about to blow out her candles, she felt something missing.

.

.

.

It came. A phone call. Her dad.

Ava picked up the phone with all her excitement and heard her daddy's voice. Her dad told her how much he wanted to be there with her on her special day but he couldn't and how he mentioned how sorry he was. He was a buisnessman that had to travel all over the world. Ava's parents met in Puerto Rico when Ava's dad was on a business trip and Ava's mom went on a vacation with her family.

Ava was very dissapointed about her dad not sharing this moment with her but the phone call made it better.

.....

Ava hung up and was ready to blow out the candles.

.

Slowly, she did. With a wish in her mind. A beautiful wish. She didn't ask for much. Just that one thing.

.

She made a wish that could change her life forever.

.

Ava thought this wish was impossible to come true but still for some reason for the first time in many years, she had a little hope.

Ava smiled.
