"Leslie, you ready for the French test?" Leslie slammed the locker shut, and glanced at the towering boy beside her.
"Oui, totally. J'ai deux pamplemousses en mon chat."
He rolled his eyes. "You do realize you just said I have two grapefruits in my cat, right?"
"Not everyone took french growing up Jeremy." Jeremy ran his hand through his long brown hair and nudged her towards the cafeteria.
"Lets book it, I'm starving!" They pushed themselves through the crowd, nodding to their school buds.
"Hey Doc! 'Sup Leslie?" Stephanie, another member of drama club ran up to them, shoving aside the ongoing stream of high schoolers.
"Hey Steph! What's up?" Leslie gave her a hug, and smiled at Luke, Stephanie's shadow. You never saw Stephanie without Luke trailing silently behind.
"Mr. Martin just told me what the play is gonna be this year. It's like, the best play ever. Seriously."
Jeremy and Leslie looked at each other knowingly, and Jeremy smiled,
"Are you gonna spit it out, or are we gonna have to beat it out of you?" Steph rolled her eyes.
"Morbid much? It's Arsenic and Old Lace. You know, the American classic?" Leslie struggled to keep a blank look on her face, and knew Jeremy was doing the same. Steph huffed impatiently.
"The one with the drama critic whose family is nut-so, and his aunts like murdered these old guys..." she got more and more frustrated, her face reddening.
"Ugh, you guys are such dweebs! You've got to be joking, how do you not know this?" Leslie's composure fell, and she broke down laughing, Jeremy right with her.
"You should see your face Steph! It's great!" Steph turned bright red, her eyes flashing with anger.
"You guys suck!" she turned to leave, and Leslie grabbed her arm.
"We're just kidding with you Steph, we're sorry."
Jeremy chuckled,"Yeah, like so totally sorry." Leslie shot him a look. "Aww, you know I'm just teasing Steph. C'mon, let's go get lunch." He put an arm around her shoulder, steering her towards the lunch line.
"Fine, fine, you freaking moron." They all grabbed trays, and Leslie groaned when she saw the food.
"Can't they ever give us real food? You know, something that doesn't glow in the dark?" Luke smiled slightly. "Aha! So he can smile!" she teased, and then grabbed a somewhat slimy looking burger.
They walked to a table, careful to not spill their lunches on themselves. The roar of the cafeteria was like music to the group, and without it things just felt wrong. Leslie sat down and stared glumly at the muck on her tray. Someone plopped down next to her, slamming a lunchbox on the table.
"See, that is exactly why I bring a lunch to school. So I don't have to eat that crap." Tanya said smirking.
"Well, you could always give me your lunch." Leslie smiled, making a move for Tanya's lunchbox.
"Bitch please!" Tanya slapped Leslie's hand away, laughing. Tanya was one of Leslie's closest friends ironically, as they were actually rivals on stage. Tanya auditioned for everything, and she and Leslie argued about it frequently.
"Ok, so tell me all about Terry!" Leslie blushed and smiled. She and Tanya were boycrazy, and Tanya always was pressing Leslie for information on boyfriends. This year, Leslie's boyfriend was Terry, a twenty-four year old. And not everyone supported Leslie's choice like Tanya did.
